The Blood Donor Recruitment Program quarterly report covers the period October –
December 2018. The BDR program activities were implemented in …. URCS branch
( districts…) in partnership with Uganda Blood Transfusion Service ….. Regional blood banks
with support from The Government of Uganda – Ministry of Health.

The BDR Program aimed at increasing access to safe and adequate blood for those in need
of blood transfusion and this report therefore highlights the programme activities
implemented, achievements, challenges faced, Lessons Learnt and key recommendations for
consideration during implementation of the programme for the remaining period.

Programme Objective: Increasing access to safe and adequate blood for those in need of
transfusion.

Programme Output: Amount of safe blood available for transfusion increased from …. to ….
units collected in the regional blood banks

The programme implementation focused on increasing the number of blood donors through
identification of low risk potential blood donors and mobilization of voluntary non
remunerated blood donors. The program created awareness on safe blood donation,
motivated and recognized the blood donors and retained them as regular blood donors.
Below were the details of achievements;

During this reporting period the programme registered the following key
