2.2 REINFORCING STEEL PLATES USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF THE BEARING SHALL

- CONFORMING TO BS 4360 GRADE 43A OR JIS G3101 GRADE SS41 OR ASTM A36, A570 OR EQUIVALENT.
- MINIMUM YIELD STRESS 245 N/ mm.²
- MINIMUM BREAKING STRENGTH 410-520 N/ mm. ²
- ELONGATION, MINIMUM 21%
2.3 THE MANUFACTURE HAS TO DO THE TEST OF ELASTOMERIC BEARING AS FOLLOWS:
- QUICK PRODUCTION TEST : FOR EVERY BEARING
- COMPRESSION STIFFNESS TEST : FOR EVERY BEARING TYPE, ±20% OF COMPRESSIVE STIFFNESS DESIGN (TABLE 1)
- SHEAR STIFFNESS TEST : FOR EVERY BEARING TYPE, ±20% OF SHEAR STIFFNESS DESIGN (TABLE 1)
OR SHEAR MODULUS TEST : FOR EVERY BEARING TYPE, 0.90 ±20% N/SQ.MM.
ALL TESTS HAVE TO FOLLOW THE SECTION 9.2 OF BS 5400 STANDARD AND UNDER THE APPROVAL OF THE PROJECT
ENGINEER.
3. THE ELASTOMERIC BEARING PAD SHALL BE TESTED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE SERVICE OR THAILAND INSTITUTE OF SCIENTIFIC
AND TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH (TISTR) LOCATED AT BANG POO INDUSTRIAL ESTATE OR OTHER AGENCIES THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS
HAS CERTIFIED. THE TEST SHALL BE COMPLETED WITHIN 6 MONTHS AFTER THE CONTRACT SIGNED.
4. THE CONTRACTOR MUST SUBMIT THE CERTIFICATE OF THE ELASTOMERIC BEARING PAD FOR EACH LOT OF MANUFACTORY
FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE ELASTOMERIC BEARING PAD INSPECTION.
5. THE BEARING OF OTHER SIZES OR DIMENSIONS (BUT NOT LESS THAN THE EXISTING SIZES OR DIMENSIONS) WHICH CAN ACCOMMODATE
THE LOADS AND MOVEMENTS AS REQUIRED IN TABLE 1 MAY BE USED WITH AN APPROVAL OF
THE BUREAU OF LOCATION AND DESIGN.
6. EPOXY MORTAR FOR LEVELING OVER THE BEARING AND EPOXY MOTAR OR
NON-SHRINK GROUTING MATERIAL FOR LEVELING UNDER THE BEARING
SHALL HAVE A STANDARD CYLINDER STRENGTH OF NOT LESS THAN 35 MPa. AT 24 HOURS.
7. BEARING INSTALLATION FOR UNIFORM LOAD, BEARING MUST CARRY THE UNIFORM
DISTRIBUTED LOAD (NO RATATION IN BEARING).
8. ALL BEARINGS MUST BE INSTALLED HORIZONTALLY
9. ALL DIMENSIONS ARE IN MILLIMETER UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED.
