COMMUNITY RELATIONS POLICY STATEMENT .............................................................................................. 3
1. COMPANY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN & CRITERIA FOR COMMUNITY CRISIS RESOLUTION ............. 4
Our activities have always been carried out in alien environments. The inhabitants of
these environments have always been our hosts. In our dealings with these communities,
we recognize the following:
That the environment is remote or alien
That the inhabitants shall be our hosts
That the heterogeneous nature of our country presupposes establishing peaceful
co-existence even where difference is spelt in behavioral patterns. We recognize
that we are committed to operate without resort to confrontation.
As strangers and businessmen, we shall only resort to dialogue at all times and
avoid every bit of confrontation.
Consequently, we will utilise our qualified and experienced staff to resolve disputes with
the neighbourhood. Only by developing a strong, mutually beneficial connection with the
local indigenous people where we operate and reside will relations be established. We
shall therefore,
Use dialogue at all times
Encourage host communities in our project by offering employment opportunities
for both skilled and unskilled labor to the best of our ability.
Respect the existing political and cultural instructions of the people
Safeguard environmental orders likely to affect the lives and welfare of the people.
Contribute our quota in supporting developmental activities beneficial to the entire
community.
