Observation and Results:
Measure the no-load voltages U2 on the secondary-side of the three-phase transformer for every
indicated tap.
Enter the measured value in the following table and calculate the transformation ratio n12 =
U1/U2.
Without changing any of the relationship on the primary side uses the voltmeter of the secondary
side to measure the voltage at the tertiary side (terminals 3U1 - 3U2).
Enter the measured value in the following table and calculate the transformation ratio n13 =
U1/U3.
Learning Outcomes:

Zero impedance Circuit diagram:
66
Observation and Results:
Adjust the supply voltage until a current of approx 0.6 A flows and measure the corresponding
voltage:
Io = ……… A Uo = ……… V
Determine the zero-impedance:
U
ZoYy o ...........
Io
After you have connected the delta stabilizing winding repeat the above measurement with a
current of approx 1.5 A:
Io = ……… A Uo = ……… V
After you have disconnected the tertiary winding change the secondary-side so that we can
investigate a star-delta connection in accordance with the foregoing topographic.
Adjust again the supply voltage until a current of approx 2 A flows and measure the
corresponding voltage:
Io = ……… A Uo = ……… V

circuit fault.
The fault currents are below the value of the three-phase short-circuits current.
Learning outcomes:
Questions:

Two phase Short-Circuit with earth contact circuit diagram:
82
Observation and results:
Measure the partial short-circuits currents I2 and I3 of the conductors L2 and L3 as well as the
short-circuit current Ik and the voltage of the healthy phase Li with respect to earth:
Short-circuit current Ik is smaller than the two partial short-circuit currents since the two partial
currents are added together geometrically into the total short-circuit current at the fault location.
Compare the measured values with those of the two-phase short-circuit without earth contact
and of the three-phase short-circuit.
The partial currents in the case of two-phase short-circuit with earth contact are larger than for
a fault without earth contact.
The fault currents are below the value of the three-phase short-circuit current
Learning outcomes:
Questions:
1. Demonstrate reason of small measured values of current during double line-to-ground fault
compared with three phase fault.
83
2. Demonstrate the causes of double line-to-ground fault on National power grid.
3. Demonstrate the actions taken based on measured/ known value of fault current.
