FOUNDATIONS
The foundations of this religion are the
elimination of all forms of prejudice; full
equality between the sexes; recognition
of the essential unity of the world's great
religions; the elimination of the extremes
of poverty and wealth; universal
education; the harmony of science and
religion; a sustainable balance between
nature and technology; and the
establishment of a global federal system,
based on collective security and the
unity of humanity.
MAJOR BELIEFS
Believers believe in the unity of God, the
unity of religion and the unity of humanity.
They call for the union of all their peoples in
a universal Cause, in a common Faith as a
solution to the main problems that affect
humanity. They believe the time has come
to unite all peoples in a peaceful and
integrated global society. "The earth is one
country, and humanity is its citizens"
LIFESTYLE
Acts of devotion such as prayer,
meditation, fasting, pilgrimage, and
service to others are inherent to the
religious life of believers. Through them,
individuals and communities can
continually reinforce the unique bond
that exists between God and humanity.
Just as the purpose of a candle is to
provide light, they believe the human soul
was created to give generously.
CUSTOMS
Dress and its norms are determined by local
culture, and faith is global. Believers are
simply exhorted to dress modestly: which is
also culturally determined.
But for more formal religious events, a red
tunic with white stripes and a cap in the
shape of a white ship with a star on top
symbolizing the "almighty god" is used.
PRACTICES
Every believer takes time every day to
pray, read the Scriptures, meditate, and
reflect on how to translate Bahá'í
teachings into action. There is no clergy
or priesthood in the Faith. Each person is
responsible for their own relationship
with God and their spiritual development.
Once a month a meeting is called to talk
with the neighborhood about common
coexistence issues. Every Tuesday and
Sunday there is mass, and they usually
have common meals.
AIMS
The objective of Faith is to achieve the
unity of humanity and Universal Peace. Our
bond of friendship and understanding is not
limited only to the issue of peace; includes
the spirit of utmost reverence for Lord
Buddha. It is a community that strives to
cultivate hope for the future of humanity, to
encourage purposeful effort, and to
celebrate the efforts of all those around the
world who work to promote unity and
alleviate human suffering.
