HARVESTHOUSE CHRISTIAN CENTER

WORD ACADEMY
STUDENT HANDBOOK

Every organisation, institution or establishment has rules, regulations and laws which govern their
operations. These rules are not created with the aim of stifling or suppressing personal beliefs or
perspectives but rather to create an orderly and structured environment as well as to ensure a
smooth running of activities that in turn leads to achievement of set goals. Every student of the Word
Academy is to adhere to the laid down rules and norms of the HCC Word Academy. While some
infringement may be verbally chastised, others attract penalties.

CODE OF CONDUCT:
Students must:
● Be modest in behaviour and conduct
● Have respect for constituted authority. Must submit to the academy leadership (HoT,
coordinator and lecturers)
● Not be rude to a church leader or speak ill of a church leader.
● Be on time for Sunday classes. Refer to the Attendance section.
● Know the vision statement, mission statement and core values of HCC
● Pressing phones during classes and services is prohibited. Students are advised to attend
classes with hard copy bibles and writing materials.
● All phones should always be on silent mode during classes
● The only posts permitted on the Whatsapp group are those directly related to the Academy
and the HCC. Broadcasts of different unrelated information, chitchats, banters, offensive
remarks, etc., are not allowed on the official Word Academy students whatsapp.

ATTENDANCE:
● Attending classes is a mandatory requirement for graduation.
● Resumption time is 6:30am every Sunday. Classroom door will be shut after 7:00 am.
● Lateness to class without due permission is unacceptable
● Absence from class without notification or permission is unacceptable
● If a student misses 4 classes(courses), he/she will repeat the Academy
● Students are expected to record at least 15 weeks of attendance.
● Each session runs for 16 weeks: 11 weeks of classes for Sunday Regular, 1 week for revision
and general questions and answers session, 1 week for unit orientation, 1 week for
examination, 1 week of interviews and another 1 week for graduation. Three classes are held
on Sundays between 7:30am and 9:30am. A total of 25 courses are offered throughout the
academic session.
DRESSCODE:
● All students are enjoined to use common sense and sound judgement when it comes to
selecting their attire.
● All students are expected to be well-groomed, very neat and to have good hygiene.
● All students should maintain an acceptable level of bodily hygiene to ensure that interactions
with other students, coordinators and lecturers remain positive and pleasant.
● All attire must be appropriate for church.
● All students are expected to dress in respect to their bodies, anything that is revealing or
inappropriate will not be tolerated.
● All attire should be clean, ironed and in good shape, any attire with rips, tears or holes will
not be tolerated, even if it is the current fashion.
● All students are required to avoid attire with offensive or inappropriate drawings or sayings.
● The appropriate shoes are to be worn for each Sunday
● Kindly refer to the HCC Academy Dress Code Policy document.

DRESS CODE DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS

● As a first time offender, a student will be asked to go back home, change into an appropriate
option and return to class.
● As a second time offender, a student will be asked to go back home, change into an
appropriate option, come back to class and pay a fine of N1000 only, after which they are
mandated to sign an undertaking, agreeing to withdraw from the academy upon a third
offence.
● As a third time offender, a student will be advised to withdraw from the academy
● Kindly note that these penalties are not subject to any consideration. Thank you.

ASSESSMENT:
● All Students are to hand in their assignments as at when due
● The use of AI tools for assignment is totally frowned at and attracts a penalty if discovered
● Students should note that doing assignments is a compulsory part of the program.
● Questions concerning assignments should be directed to individual group coordinators on
the group’s whatsapp.
● Books are to be read and reviewed in individual groups. Note that book reviews are assessed.
● Bible readings are to be taken seriously. Not only does it sharpen your knowledge of the
word of God, your participation is as well assessed and recorded.
● Students should endeavour to not miss the continuous assessment and examination.
● Any student who does not meet up with 50% of the total assessment score has the
opportunity to re-sit examination within a week after the release of results. Failure to meet
up again will require such students to retake the academic session.
● Outreach Projects are an important part of the program, hence is a decider for examination
eligibility.
GROUPS:
● Participation in group related activities on WhatsApp and outside WhatsApp is very crucial.
● You are assessed based on your interaction, contribution and engagement.
● Take advantage of the privacy of your small groups to further grow yourself.
● Your group coordinator should always be your first point of contact.
● Your group coordinator is your oversight during your training at the Academy.
● Request permissions for absence or lateness from your group coordinator and notify them of
situations as they arise.

HCC CULTURE:
As workers in the Harvest House Christian Center, it is expected that you participate in HCC related
activities and services. Academy students are required to take part in the following HCC activities.
● The weekly Monday Monday Morning Prayer with Rev
● Global Tuesday Prayers
● Wednesday Services
● After-service Sunday workers meeting
● Global Workers Meeting with Rev - Third Saturdays of the month
● Fresh Oil fasting and prayer - First 3 days of every new month
● Days of Glory - 3ce a year (usually first week in January, July and November)
● Workers Refreshing Conference - 2ce a year (1st May and 1st October)
● Daniel Fast - Beginning of a new year
● 12 Days at Gilgal
● Read the book of the month
● And any other special service.
STUDENT ATTESTATION
I, the undersigned student of HCC Word Academy, hereby acknowledge that I have received, read,
and understood the contents of the Word Academy Student Handbook. I recognise that this
Handbook Serves as a comprehensive guide to the academy’s principles, policies, and guidelines. By
signing this attestation, I commit to adhering to the standards and expectations outlined within this
Handbook.

I understand that compliance with its policies, guidelines and procedures is essential for maintaining
a respectful, cohesive, and spiritually enriching environment. I am aware that failure to abide by
these standards may result in disciplinary action as described in the handbook.
