Vision
Mission
Expertise
We offer an integrated range of healthcare services from out-patient treatment and diagnostics to
advanced clinical care which also extends to personalised home-care services. We keep pace
with the latest technological breakthroughs in medical science and equip our hospitals with state-
of-the-art facilities on par with global standards. From the simplest to the most complex medical
problems, we deliver the most cutting-edge treatment.
We serve thousands of patients through our network of hospitals every day and offer quality
healthcare to people from India and overseas. Through our association with the Manipal
Foundation and other NGOs, we provide affordable healthcare services to the less privileged
sections of the society.
Manipal Ambulance Response Services (MARS), provides 360-degree pre-hospital care during
the golden hour in critical emergencies. Manipal has one of the largest fleets of ambulances in
different cities. These Ambulances come with critical life-saving equipment like
ventilators/defibrillators, monitors, inbuilt ECG machines/syringe pumps and other
equipmewhich helps to monitor critical patients.
The first hour following an emergency is called the golden hour. The earlier the patient reaches
the hospital the better are the chances for any treatment to be effective. Beyond the first hour, the
body’s compensatory response starts to fail and resuscitating the patient becomes more difficult.
When an emergency call comes to the command center, an emergency response officer
understands the type of emergency and the location of the patient to deploy the nearest
ambulance. If it's a critical emergency the same call will be transferred to the doctor working in
the ER 24x7 to understand the clinical condition and based on which an ambulance will be
assigned.
Basic Life Support(BLS) certified Emergency team gives the first aid and stabilizes the patient in
the ambulance. There is also a central monitoring system to relay LIVE information about the
patient's condition directly to an ALS (Advanced Life Support) trained emergency response
centre physician. The patient is stabilized in the ambulance itself and gets the required care for
he/she reaches the hospital. The ambulances take the critically ill patients to the nearest
emergency facility. Manipal Emergency Department has been efficiently treating emergency
patients for the past twenty-five years.
One of the key reasons for failure following a medical emergency is because the patient was
deprived of timely and quality medical assistance. Improper diagnosis and inadequate emergency
treatment could turn out to be fatal. One should reach out for professional assistance immediately
during an emergency

CHALLENGES EXPERIENCED
Nursing superintendent could not take out enough time to impart more information to the
students due to her busy schedule.
We were being posted in respective units but we were being requested not to hamper
their daily routine work.
Nurse in-charges were also helping the staffs in their routine work. They could not take
out enough time to orient much about the unit.
We did not get the opportunity to sit with the interview panel to learn about how to
conduct the interviews, questioning techniques, interview skills etc.
No task based work was given to us during our complete posting.
LESSONS LEARNED
RECOMMENDATIONS
Visit to Max Hospital, Saket should be there for the upcoming group to know more about
the hospital as in upcoming time, Robotic Surgeries will be done
Students must be included with the interview panel to learn about the interview skills.
Students must be posted with Nursing superintendent or the Deputy Nursing
Superintendent to know about their functioning.
This posting should be task oriented to the upcoming students
Cooperate hospital posting should be atleast for 15 days.
CONCLUSION
It was such a knowledgeable and interesting corporate posting at Max Hospital, Saket. We came
to know about the functioning, infrastructure, staffing pattern, various committees, their
specialties, staff facilities etc. Mr. Hariharan (Senior Nurse Educator) guided us well and she
cleared our doubts and imparted knowledge about the Max Hospital. Max Hospital posting was
really very useful in terms of knowing and understands about the managerial functions at
different levels.
