Who are eligible to take SBI Surya Ghar Loan for Solar Roof Top
finance up to 3 KW?
Ans: All individual applicants who have sufficient roof area and roof top
rights on which the installation is proposed, can avail this loan for installation
of solar roof Top of up to 3 KW capacity.
Other Eligibility conditions:
1 ➢ All Individual Applicants age up to 65 years (loan must be closed before
borrower reaches 70 years of age)
➢ Applicant having CIBIL Score of 680 & above (NTC also eligible)
➢ Having Roof Top Rights on which the installation is proposed.
➢ Having sufficient Roof area as mandated by MNRE from time to time.
➢ Latest Electricity Bill.
➢ Savings Account mandatory.
If installation of Solar Roof Top (SRT) is for more than 3 KW & up to 10
KW capacity, what would be eligibility?
Ans: Following customers, who have sufficient roof area and roof top rights
on which the installation is proposed, are eligible to avail loan in this
category:
2 (a) All salaried customers, with/ without maintaining salary account with our
Bank.
(b) Pensioners maintaining pension account with us.
(c) Professionals, Self-employed, Businessmen and others who are income
tax assesses.
(d) All Agriculturists who are not income tax assesses
How much loan amount is available in SBI Surya Ghar Scheme?
Ans: Maximum loan amount is based on SRT installation capacity:
Capacity Max Loan amount
3 Installation of Solar Roof Top of up to 3 KW capacity Rs. 2,00,000
Installation of Solar Roof Top of more than 3 KW Rs. 6,00,000
and up to 10 KW capacity
However, there is no minimum loan amount prescribed under this scheme.
What is the rate of interest in this scheme?
Ans: Presently,
(a) 7.00% p.a., for installation of Solar roof top of up to 3 KW capacity.
(b)10.15% p.a., if loans > 3 KW and up to 10 KW for non-HL borrowers of
4 SBI.
(c) 9.15% p.a. for loans > 3KV and up to 10 KV for SBI Home Loan
borrowers.
Please note that this loan is available at floating rate of interest based
on Repo Rate / EBLR.

What is the margin money requirement for availing the loan?
Ans: (a) Minimum 10% of the project cost - For installation of solar roof

(b) Minimum 20% of the project cost - For installation of solar roof top of
more than 3 KW & up to 10 KW capacity.
Is PAN / IT Return /Form 60 mandatory for availing this loan?
Ans: No, if loan is required for installation of solar roof Top of up to 3 KW
6 capacity.
However, in cases of loan for installation of solar roof top of more than 3 KW
& up to 10 KW capacity, it is mandatory.
Do we consider existing EMI obligations?
Ans: Up-to 3 KW– No
7 > 3 KW to 10 KW (With Home Loans): No
> 3 KW to 10 KW (without Home Loans)-Yes and EMI/NMI ratio is
60% (Refer e-Circular for details)
Is Savings Bank Account with SBI mandatory for the applicants?
8 Ans: Yes, it is mandatory.
However, if a customer does not have Savings Bank account with SBI, she/
he can open a new SB account and apply for the loan.
9 What is the maximum repayment period?
Ans: 10 years (Including moratorium period of 6 months).
Is it mandatory to have a home loan for availing this loan?
10 Ans: No, it is not mandatory, however the product codes should be chosen
correctly.
In case of existing Home Loans, do we extend mortgage?

Ans: No, extension of charge is not required
What are the other parameters of the Loan Products?
12 Ans: The detailed parameters, eligibility conditions for the product variants
are attached as Annexure I
How is loan application initiated for Solar roof Top finance?
Ans: Installation of Solar Roof Top Loan can be applied through MNRE
portal (https://www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in) using a mobile number (this no will
be used subsequently for all purposes) and latest electric bill and
consumer no.
Alternately, also by visiting Bank’s website bank.sbi, → Loans, → SBI Surya
Ghar Scheme → Apply Now.
(This will also take to the PM Surya Ghar Portal)
13 After completion of initial steps, if applicant requires loan for installation,
the applicant should click-YES-in “Do you wish to avail Bank Loan”
Screen by Screen guidance of PM Surya Ghar & JanSamarth Portal is
attached as Annexure II
(After this the applicant will automatically be redirected to the Jan Samarth
Portal, however presently the functionality is not working and so till the
single sign on functionality is rolled out, applicant need to login in Jan
Samarth Portal separately)

What is the menu navigation for MNRE Portal
(https://www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in)?
Ans:
Step 1: Fill up your State, District, Name of Discom and Consumer No.
(Basic Data Will be fetched based on the inputs)
Step 2: Registration using mobile number in MNRE portal. E mail can alo
be given (optional)
Step 3: Validation of Mobile No through OTP
Step 4: Once Validation is done, applicant needs to login using the same

Step 5: The basic data (address, Discom, Consumer No etc.) will be
fetched, some of which are editable.
Step 6: Applicant to feed the capacity of Solar Roof Top to be installed (in
KW)
Step 7: Upload latest Electricity Bill (PDF, JPEG, JPG max 500 KB)
Step 8: Final Submission
Step 9: if applicant requires loan for installation, the applicant should click-
YES-in
“Do you wish to avail Bank Loan” (slide No.14)
What are the Steps in the Jan Samarth Portal (www.jansamarth.in)?
Ans:
Step 1: The applicant to need to login through mobile no (same mobile no.
as in MNRE portal)
Step 2: Accept the Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, and then validate
through OTP.
Step 3: Provide E mail ID & Validate (optional)
Step 4: Accept Consent for Aadhaar Check, Bureau Check, CBDT Check

Step 5: Applicant needs to enter consumer No and Mobile No
Step 6: System will wait till feasibility report comes from Discom.
Step 7: After Feasibility report the applicant will enter Aadhaar No. /
Aadhaar application No. which will be verified through the mobile no
registered with UIDAI.
Step 8: Applicant Chooses Bank and Branch
Step 9: Applicant Chooses installation vendor: (presently Vendor data is
not flowing; under development)
Is it mandatory to login through MNRE / Jan Samarth portal?
Ans: Request for Solar roof top installation should be mandatorily initiated
16 through MNRE portal (https://www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in) and if the applicant
wishes to avail loan, the applicant (prospective borrower) should apply
through JanSamarth portal also (www.jansamarth.in)

How to generate loan application sourced by Bank branches /
Marketing outfits?
Ans: Apart from proposals which are coming through Jan Samarth portal,
branches / marketing units should generate SRT applications, and these
17 applicants / Customers should be guided / handheld for applying through
MNRE portal (https://www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in) and JanSamarth Portal,
which are mandatory requirements, as mentioned in point 14 & 15
Please note that all applications should mandatorily be initiated in
www.pmsuyaghar.gov.in and then through www.jansamarth.in
What details/ documents are the pre-requisites?
18 Ans: Aadhaar No, PAN, Discom details, Consumer No. Electricity bill, SB
account with SBI,
How to Deal with applications generated from Jan Samarth Portal
Ans: 1. The Branch should login with the Jan Samarth Credentials
2. Contact with the Applicant and ensure having SB account with SBI
3. Collect all Documents required
4. Appraise and Sanction as per the format provided in the e Circular

5. Sanction to be done at RBO, for time being
(The product is being developed in RLMS. However, till the product is
rolled out, all proposals which have been sourced in Jan Samarth Portal
should be processed and sanctioned/rejected by the concerned RBO.
Thereafter account opening and disbursement will be done in CBS.)
How to Disburse the Loan?
Ans: Till the products are developed in RLMS, these loans need to be
disbursed directly through CBS.

To whom the loan amount to be disbursed?
Ans: Loan disbursement would be made directly to the account of Vendor
21 / Channel Partner / EPC Contractor. However, please ensure the vendor
ais listed in the MNRE site under the specific Discom, for which the SRT is
being installed.

What are the product codes for the loan accounts opened in CBS?

(opening in CBS should be done for these 3 Product Codes only)
What are the other actions which are to be performed?
Ans: After every sanction, rejection, disbursement, these data should be
updated in the Jan Samarth Portal against the application reference no. In
23 case such data is not updated, the MIS to MNRE/PMO/DFS will not correctly
reflect our performance.
(Post IT development of the reverse integration such requirements will not
be there)
How to Update Sanction / Disbursed Data in JanSamarth?
Ans: Branch users need to login into the Jan Samarth portal using their
credentials. Under the Approved/Referred Tab they can view all the
24 applications which needs to be acted upon. The users can take three
decisions on the pending tasks: 1) Sanction, 2) Reject & 3) Hold. If the action
taken is “Sanction” then the application moves to “Sanctioned Tab”. Under
the Sanctioned Tab, users can mark the Disbursement and other details.
Who are the approved vendors?
Ans Vendors are approved based on the SOP vide e Circular No.
CCO/ESG-CFU/4/2023 – 24 dated 20-01-2024.Circles are now also
empowered to get the vendors approved.

Ans: To be Claimed by Borrower from Suryaghar.gov.in (MNRE website)
