Desiderata
Desiderata
This poem and quote are my little gifts for your journey. They are also my prayer for you, that
your path in this life may bring you joy, learning, purpose and fulfillment. I am sure there are
many words in this poem you cannot understand now. Be patient, give yourself time, keep
this poem in your drawer and read it again after a few years, you will find an incredible
surprise!
May you always be surprised by the beauty of life, my dear student. I will miss our days
together and I will always bring your dear memory in my heart, as well as all the learning and
the discoveries and the stories we have shared together this year. Have a nice life. Never give
up. Always move on. Trust that everything has a purpose, even things that make us suffer or
that we don’t understand. Love. Learn to be at peace with yourself and with the others. Be
glad, life is a miracle!
Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Max Ehrmann
“For the first time in my life I saw the truth as it is set into song by so many poets, proclaimed
as the final wisdom by so many thinkers. The truth—that Love is the ultimate and highest goal
to which [humanity] can aspire. Then I grasped the meaning of the greatest secret that human
poetry and human thought and belief have to impart: The salvation of [humanity] is through
love and in love.”
