I. RATIONALE

In support to the MATATAG Basic Education Agenda and as a sub-


program under the National Learning Recovery Program (NLRP) aimed at
addressing learning loss, the Department of Education (DepEd) is set to
roll out the National Learning Camp (NLC) during the 2022-2023 End-of-
School Year (EOSY) break.

With a two-fold purpose of improving learning outcomes and


supporting teachers to teach better, the NLC will run for three to five
weeks, from July 24 to August 25, 2023, with three days of teacher-
learner engagement and two days dedicated to collaborative expertise
through Learning Action Cell (LAC) sessions among teachers.

The NLC is a voluntary program that will start its phased


implementation with Grades 7 and 8 focusing on English, Science, and
Mathematics.
Based on the specific needs of the learners, they shall be enrolled in
one of three Camps: Enhancement Camp, Consolidation Camp, or
Intervention Camp.

The NLC aims to create a camp-like atmosphere by integrating fun


and engaging activities to foster learner interests, socio-emotional skills,
personal growth, and character development.

II. ACTIVITY OBJECTIVES

1. Help close the learning gaps by improving learning outcomes; and


2. Support teachers so they can teach better through LAC sessions and
FGDs.

III. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

This activity will be participated by 1 School Head, 9 volunteer-teachers,


and 140 volunteer learners (35 learners for Grade 7 Enhancement Camp,
35 learners for Grade 7 Consolidation Camp, 35 learners for Grade 8
Enhancement Camp, and 35 learners for Grade 8 Consolidation Camp).
The activity will run from July 24 to August 25, 2023, with 3 days face-
to-face class which features interactive games and camp-like activities
and 2 days collaborative sessions for teachers to improve the delivery of
lesson. Enhancement Camp will run for 3 weeks while Consolidation
Camp will run for 5 weeks.

IV. IMPLEMENTATION

Pre-implementation: Prepare the activity proposal, conduct NLC pre-


test, campaign for NLC enrolment, join the contest for division NLC jingle
competition and attend the Capacity Building for NLC Volunteer-
teachers.

During Implementation: Implement 3 days face-to-face class which


features interactive games and camp-like activities and 2 days
collaborative sessions for teachers to improve the delivery of lesson.
Enhancement Camp will run for 3 weeks while Consolidation Camp will
run for 5 weeks.

Post Implementation: Conduct NLC post-test and prepare narrative


report with pictures.

V. EXPECTED OUTPUT

Improve learning outcomes of student-campers in English, Science


and Math subjects through improved lesson delivery.

VIII. MONITORING AND EVALUATION

Monitoring and evaluation shall be done by the Monitoring and


Evaluation team from SDO and RO. Narrative report shall be submitted
to the Principal’s Office.
