TASK 2:
Watch the trailer for Nerve, found in the film study folder on your devices, and answer the questions
below:
1.1 Discuss the effectiveness of the voice over that has been used in the first 18 seconds of the trailer.
The voice over is used to explain the game, (Nerve)¸ and how to play it. This is effective as it adds
anonymity to the game, and to entice other people to play the game.
1.2 Comment on both the tone and content in your response.

1.2.1 Comment on the effectiveness of the sound used. (Your response should include commentary on
the soundtrack used, the atmosphere it creates and the significance of when the soundtrack ends
and the sound that follows).
The soundtrack used uses the words “kiss me” in the beginning which is used to create suspense for Vee’s
dare: “Kiss a stranger for 5 seconds”. This soundtrack creates a very tense atmosphere, as Vee is
under a lot of pressure to complete the dare due to the timer placed on it. When the soundtrack
ends, it tells us there is less pressure on Vee’s shoulders as she had completed the dare

1.3.1 Identify the shot used and discuss its purpose.
High angle shot; the shot is used to signify all of the players playing nerve. This highlights the popularity of
the game and shows the location of the various players.
1.3.2 Discuss the effectiveness of the lines, colour and font used.
The lines show the locations of the players, and the colours show the different players in the game. The
fonts show the usernames the players chose.
