SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES- ( Knowledge , Understanding )

 Students will be able to explain the nature of magnets.

 Students will be able to discuss the applications of magnet.
 Students will be able to identify poles of a magnet.
 Students will be able to differentiate magnetic and non- magnetic materials.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE-

 Students have the basic knowledge about magnet and its nature.
INTRODUCTORY QUESTIONS-

Pupil Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

Q1. What is this object in my hand? A1. Iron nails

Q2. Which material is used to make iron A2. Iron

nails?
Q3. Name an object which can attract iron? A3. Magnet
Q4. What do you know about magnet? A4. Problematic question
STATEMENT OF AIM-
Students today we will learn about Magnet & its properties

Teaching Point 1: Nature of magnet

Teaching Method: Demonstration Method
Teaching Technique: Question-answer technique

PRESENTATION-

Pupil teacher activity Student’s activity Whiteboard work

Teacher will show a pair Students will observe
of magnet to the students. carefully.

Teacher will ask Students will answer

thefollowing
questions.
Q. What do you see in A. A pair of magnets
my hands?

Q. How many poles are A. Magnets have two

inmagnet? poles. a north pole and a
south pole
Teacher will take a pair Students will observe and

similar poles together
and ask questions-
Q. What happens when A. The magnets get away
we take similar-poles from each other.
together?
Then teacher will bring the
dissimilar poles of magnet
together and ask questions-
Q. what happens when we A1. The magnet will
take different poles sticktogether.
together?

Attraction
Teacher explanation-
Magnet like charge poles
repel each other and unlike Students will listen
charge pole attract each- the concept and note
Other in theircopies.

Teaching Point 2: Magnetic and non- magnetic material

Teaching Method: Concept attainment model (CAM)
Teaching Technique: Question-answer technique

substances on the
whiteboard.
Teacher will ask the Students will answer
following questions.
Q. what do you A. In column A all
observe in both the material are of iron
columns? and in column B all
the materials are of
wood

Q. items of which A. column A

column attracted by
magnet?

Q. items of which A. column B

column are not
attracted by magnet?

Teacher will write the Attributes:

EVALUATION-
1. When we take similar poles of the magnet then what will happen to the magnet?
2. List down the examples of magnetic and non- magnetic materials.
HOMEWORK-
Q1. Draw the diagrams showing poles of a magnet.
Q2. Differentiate between magnetic and non- magnetic materials.
