Threats of global warming and ways to overcome it.

to the world; however they can be overcome by taking timely measures.

a. Increasingly extreme weather events have caused more severe and
frequent storms, flooding and landslides destroying life and
livelihood
b. A warming of ocean and rising sea levels threatening coastal and
island communities
c. Posing danger to the survival of species on land and in the ocean
d. Looming danger of water scarcity in more regions due to increased
droughts
e. A global rise in hunger and poor nutrition because of huge impact
on fisheries crops and livestock
f. Air pollution, food insecurity and expanding diseases like Malaria
are creating more health risks for humans
g. Poverty and displacement as floods may sweep away urban slums,
destroying homes and livelihoods
h. Rising temperatures have led to more hot days and heat waves
across the world
4. What timely measures can be adopted to overcome the threats posed by
global warming?
a. Achieving the net zero target of limiting the temperature to 1.5c°
pledged under the Paris climate agreement
b. Transitioning to green energy and decarbonization of all aspects of
global economy by using renewable sources of energy
c. Changing home’s source of of energy to renewable energy such as
wind and solar
d. UN must continue to encourage all stakeholders to take action
towards reducing the impacts of global warming
e. Curtailing deforestation by planting more trees and restoring sea
grasses could help clean up significant amounts of Co2
f. A unified global response particularly by the giant Co2 emitters is
the need of hour
g. Switching to electric vehicles to reduce pollution and CO2 emissions
h. Developed countries and NGos must provide funds to the most
affected countries to counter the impacts of global warming
