The Technology Consulting– I course is designed to equip students to:


CLO1 – Build Technology consulting skills, Comprehend the Consulting process including the lifecycle and
the role of a consultant (PLO – 2a)

CLO2 - Learning the importance of ethics in consulting business, maintaining independence and
objectivity in analysis (PLO – 7c)

The student should be able to demonstrate ability in the following areas:

Technology Strategy is increasingly becoming topmost agenda item of every organization. Organizations
are investing significantly in IT led business transformation projects. Hence, Technology consultancy
domain has become very important in all industries and most of the organizations are engaging
Technology consultants. Participants in this course will experience how various pieces of the technology
align with business priorities and why both Technology leaders and business leaders need to be aligned in
Course strategic harmony for the organization to operate for gaining sustainable competitive advantage.
Description
This course enables participants to develop an understanding of the requisite competencies and
frameworks and tools to function as technology consultants in addressing organizational strategic issues.

This course consists of understanding the following two key aspects:

i) The process of IT consulting: Course participants will develop an awareness of the workings of the

consulting industry, how corporations engage and work with consulting firms, and how IT consulting is
delivered in practice.

ii) The content of IT consulting: Course participants will get an exposure to various kinds of consulting
engagements. They will also get introduced to the application of various principles, frameworks, and tools
for IT consulting.

This course will include class assignments and group project, thereby give participants an opportunity to
apply various tools and frameworks of IT Consulting which will give them deeper understanding of real-
world Technology Consulting.

Group Project Guidelines:

Each group will be assigned an industry and organization. Participants are expected to demonstrate their
ability to apply various technology consulting principles and frameworks discussed in the 18 sessions. All
groups will be required to submit their PPTs on the previous day of 19th session. Each group is expected to
make their presentation in the class during 19th and 20th sessions. The final project will help them to apply the
concepts and learning with respect to that industry.
 Project submission is in MS-PowerPoint consisting of max. 20 slides including cover page.

 The project expects sound and thorough secondary research with complete referencing. Primary research
is encouraged. Plagiarism checks will be enforced strictly.
