Job Summary:

The Fashion Designer will conceptualize and design items of clothing and implement
production.

Duties/Responsibilities:
 Conceptualizes and designs items of clothing, managing the process from research and
design through production of apparel.
 Selects patterns, fabrics, colors, and design silhouettes for garments in collaboration
with design team.
 Creates and presents technical drawings of designs to the product development and
marketing teams within the organization.
 Oversees the procurement of samples, and artwork from vendors and manufacturers.
 Adheres to design team budget in developing new lines.
 Adhere to the company’s product calendar, tracking sample progress and solving issues
in order to meet calendar deadlines.
 Collaborate with marketing in preparing presentation materials for line previews and
sales meetings.
 Lead and inspire members of the creative team (Designers, Copywriters, Graphic
Designers, Developers, Stylists, Photographers) to deliver on creative concepts
efficiently and effectively.
 Work collaboratively with marketing to ensure delivery of the brand message.
 Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop products on a schedule that
complements and/or expands the current product offering.
 Track and facilitate sampling and prototyping for products; identify and address key
issues and challenges in construction/manufacturing and plan accordingly to deliver
proven and tested products.
 Monitor and communicate progress and challenges throughout the product testing
process to meet product integrity requirements.
 Determine appropriate creative direction by project, including typography treatments,
graphic treatments, photography concept, three-dimensional layout design, moving
image, in accordance with channel use.
 Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
 Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
 Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
 Talent in understanding colours, forms, and patterns that will appeal to customers.
 Extremely detail-oriented.
 Creative and original.
 Ability to complete projects independently, but also to effectively work as a member of a
design team.
 Thorough understanding of pattern construction, tailoring, and sewing.
 Thorough understanding of fashion market.
 Thorough understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Education and Experience:


 Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field, required.
 At least three years of experience in some area of clothing production, garment design,
pattern making, or textiles.

Physical Requirements:
 Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
 Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Travel may be required for this role
