This section will show you how to activate your D2L Account.

Your D2L Account is used to

access the textbook, download free product evaluations, access free classes, and, most
importantly, we email your voucher out to you using your D2L account.

**** Please Note: Even if you already have access to D2L from a previous VMware Class, you
will still need to redeem your new subscription to access the new materials****

Step 1. Access your Student Gmail account from stanly.edu/email, locate the email from “Info” titled
“Welcome! Please redeem your VMWare subscription!” (it could be in your trash or spam folders, so
please check there if you cannot find it), and open it.

Step 2. Ensure that the email was sent from “info@itacademy.brightspace.com” and then open the
hyperlink “Click here to login or register an account to proceed”.
Step 3. D2L will then inform you that “A VMware Subscription Has Been Allocated to You”. Click the

Step 4. Click the “Register” button on the right to begin creating your new account. ( If you already have
a D2L account that you created in a previous class, that uses your @scc.stanly.edu student email
address, then click “Log in” instead and skip to step 6 or 7).
Step 5. Enter your Account and Contact Details (NOTE: you MUST use your SCC @scc.stanly.edu Gmail
address here, otherwise your account will not be properly recognized by D2L and your voucher will not
send properly at the end of class), accept the Terms and Conditions, and click on “Create Account”.

Step 6. Click “Continue” to proceed. You can also select the “Do not ask me again for this application” if
you don’t want to see this page again.

Step 7. Ensure the information is correct (Again, please use your @scc.stanly.edu email address here.
That is the address we sent the subscription to and the only address that can claim your token) and click
the “Click here to redeem” button to complete your account creation.
Step 8. You are now enrolled. Click the hyperlink to continue to your courses at D2L Brightspace.

Step 9. You should now be able to view your courses in D2L. You will notice that there are several free
courses available to you that you can go through at your leisure, and that you have access to download
and use free VMware software. If you do not have access to any courses then you did not click the
button in step 7 or an error occurred. Please reattempt the redemption process and then contact your
instructor if issues persist.

The main course that contains your Textbook for the class is the “VMware vSphere” course (either
“Install, Configure, Manage”, or “Optimize and Scale” depending on which one you are taking). Go
ahead and click on it.
Step 10. You are now in the Course Content. Select “Student Resources”.

Step 11. Your textbook for the class should look like the following, and have LEC in its name. (Please
note that we do not use the VMware Lab Manual for this class. All labs are done in Netlabs at
oll4.stanly.edu using the lab documentation found there.)
Step 12. Click “Course Home” to return to the Course Content. Click the VMware Banner above that to
return to your Home page and view other courses.

Step 13. You should now have access to all the required resources in D2L and be able to navigate it.
Please contact your instructor if you have any questions.
