Text: NZITONDA'S ADVENTURES
Nzitonda left his village for the town. Back to the village, he tells about his misadventures. Store
spent his holidays at his grandfather's home Mahoro. He loved to look after cows and it was a good
opportunity to play with other young men.
One day, Ntore met Nzitonda who was not as old as him. They became good friends. One
afternoon, Nzitonda began to relate his misadventures: "I lost my father when I was ten. I was
studying in form 4. Our mother could not provide for us. So, I decided to look for a job in
Bujumbura I hoped to get money to help my family.
As soon as I arrived in Bujumbura, I found the situation different from what I was expecting. I was
always hungry. I couldn't sleep because of mosquitoes. Then, I started suffering from malaria for a
long period. Sometimes, I had to steal in order to survive.
One day, the police caught me. I was sent to prison. I was released a few months later and I decided
to come back home. I accepted to look after Mutware's cows. The salary is low but I accepted the job.
I'm glad I can save money and plan to work on my land 1m sure I'll have a good life in my village."
