A. Content Standard The learner should demonstrate understanding
1. The learner should demonstrate understanding on how cells divide to
produce new cells
2. The learner should demonstrate understanding meiosis as one of the
processes producing genetic variations of the Mendelian Pattern of
Inheritance

B. Performance Standard The learner should be able to report on the importance of variation in plant and
animal breeding

C. Leaning Competency/ Objectives The learners shall be able to predict phenotypic expressions of traits
following simple patterns of inheritance

Specific Learning Objectives:

At the end of lesson, the learners are expected to:
1. Explain the Principles of Heredity;
2. Solve and predict Mendelian phenotypic and genotypic expression of traits in
a monohybrid cross;

3. Valued the importance of genetics in classifying the traits of individual

A. Elicit TRUE OR FALSE
Directions: Write True if the statement is correct and False if
wrong. Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper.
B. Engage TRAITS WE HAVE! TRAITS WE DON’T!
Direction: The teacher will show pictures of traits at a time. All students that
have this trait should stand. Continue with each game card to find similarities
and differences among students.

Questions:
1. Did you have a trait in common with your classmate?
2. Did you have a trait that your classmate does not have?

UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULTIES
DECODE ME
Directions: Decode the following numbers on each statement to get the correct
answer.

C. Explore Direction: The class will be divided into Three (3) Groups and each group will be
given specific task. Each group will choose a secretary, a reporter, and a leader.

Group 1: AN INVENTORY OF MY TRAITS

Direction: Students take an inventory of their own easily observable genetic
traits. Working in small groups, they observe how their trait inventories differ
from those of others. Students record their observations in a data table and
make a bar graph to show the most and least common traits in the group.

Guide Question:
1. What have you notice on the inventory you made?
2. Why do you think students have different traits?

branches each represent a different combination of traits. When completed, the
