SEMESTER 2

THIRD GRADING PERIOD

PEH
START!
A. TEN TIPS TO AVOID INJURIES
1. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING AN EXERCISE PROGRAM.
2. LEARN THE PROPER TECHNIQUE FIRST BEFORE STARTING ANY NEW EXERCISE.
3. CHOOSE YOUR WORKOUT CAREFULLY TO AKE SURE IT IS IDEAL FOR YOU.
4. GET THE RIGHT GEAR THAT MAKES YOU COMFORTABLE TO MOVE AND BREATHE.
5. START GRADUALLY AND SLOWLY INCREASE SPEED AND INTENSITY WHEN YOU FEEL READY.
6. WARM UP YOUR COLD MUSCLES
7. STAY HYDRATED THROUGHOUT YOUR EXERCISE.
8. COOL DOWN FOR 10 MINUTES AND MAINTAIN FLEXIBILITY.
9. VARY YOUR WORKOUTS TO WORK DIFFERENT MUSCLE GROUPS.
10. KNOW WHEN TO STOP, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE IN PAIN ALREADY.

B. DEFINE WORDS
1. Sprain- A SPRAIN IS a kind of injury that signifies that a ligament has been torn or stretched. A ligament
is the fibrous tissue that connects two bones at a joint. This commonly occurs in your ankle.
2. Strain – A strain is a term that refers to an injury when a muscle has been stretched too much that it
tears. This is typically caused from too much physical activity or effort, improper warm ups, and poor
flexibility.
3. Dislocation – is an injury where the end of your bones are forced to come out of their position which
means that they are ‘dislocated’. This injury commonly involves the human body’s larger joints like the
shoulder.
4. Osteoarthritis- Osteoarthritis is known as the most common type of arthritis that is usually described
as “wear or tear” arthritis. This occurs when the cartilage that protects the ends of the bones break
down over time.

MOVE ON
1. What is injuries? What causes the pain in injuries. Explain.
AN INJURY IS DEFINED AS A PHYSICAL TRAUMA THAT CAUSES DAMAGE TO YOUR BODY. IT CAN BE THE
RESULT OF AN ACCIDENT, A SPORTS ACTIVITY, OR A FALL. THE PAIN YOU FEEL WHEN INJURED IS
ACTUALLY CALLED ACUTE PAIN, WHICH IS THE TERM USED TO CLASSIFY PAIN FELT FROM RESPONSE TO
AN INJURY. THIS PAIN IS CAUSED BY A CUT, BRUISE, BURN, BROKEN BONE, PULLED MUSCLE,
INFECTION, OR LABOR CONTRACTIONS.
2. How do overuse injuries occur? How are they classified? Explain.
Overuse injuries occur by the repetitive trauma caused to the body over a period of time. This kind of
injury is classified by
3. Are certain individuals at more risk of getting injured? What factors increase the risk of injury?
Yes, certain individuals are at more risk of getting injured than other people. Most of these individuals
are often athletes or old people. To dig deeper into the issue, there are a lot of factors that can
increase the risk of injury such as a person’s age, sex, body composition, fitness level, sports
equipment, or environment. What is even more dangerous is when both external and internal factors
act at the same time which puts someone at a higher risk for injury.
1. When does a natural event become a hazard?
A natural event only becomes a hazard when it has the potential to cause harm to people, damage
properties, and cause social and economic disruption. Aside from that, it also has the potential to
cause loss of fauna and flora and cause pollution in large quantities. Examples of these are air
pollution, drought, desertification, and solid wastes. This is different from a hazardous event since a
natural phenomenon will only become a hazardous event when it is occurring in a populated area.
2. When does a hazard become a disaster?
A hazard becomes a disaster when it causes disturbingly large numbers of fatalities and property
damage. This means that it is only labeled as a disaster when a hazard is happening in a place where
there are many people living in it.
3. My community has completed a certain kind of hazard, exposure, and vulnerability assessment. This
was intended to be used for possible landslide and flood in our town. My town was assessed of the
degree of vulnerability and potential risks in particular areas that are exposed to a populated area,
roads, rain-induced landslides, and floods. The risk assessment also included the gathering of data on
the number of population, the extent of built-up areas, and the roads that could be possibly affected.
The result of this assessment were risk exposure maps that determined the risk level of a particular
area within the town.

4. What other hazard, exposure, and vulnerability assessment tools can you suggest for your community?

One of the assessment tools I can suggest for my community is aerial remote sensing. It is typically
used in natural hazard assessments because provides information about some features that are too
small to interpret and detect. Remote sensing works by mounting sensors on an aircraft to record data
or information in a particular area. Although it is a more expensive method, it does get the job done
and requires less manpower.

RESEARCH WEEK 1
Topic Reason/s
Topic 1 I chose this topic because I want to develop a
Impact of Academic pressure to the mental deeper understanding on the effects of academic
health of high school students pressure on the mental health of students in the
middle of the pandemic. I want to shed a light on
the issue and make it a point that too much
academic pressure can result to anxiety and
depression.
Topic 2 The meat industry is a major contributor of
Effect of eating plant-based meals to the greenhouse gases, which in turn makes the
environment impact of global warming worse. I chose to write
about this topic to highlight the health and
environmental benefits of consuming plant-
based meals instead of meat.
Topic 3 Aside from preventing unexpected pregnancies,
Birth control pills and its effect on women birth control pills also have other side effects on
women. I chose this topic because I want to
determine both the positive and negative effects
of birth control pills on women.
Topic 4 I chose to write about this topic since the rate of
Possible causes of eating disorders in teens eating disorders among teens have spiked in the
middle of the pandemic. I want to further
understand the complexity of the possible causes
of eating disorders in teens.
Topic 5 I chose this topic because I want to let other
Reducing air pollution in urban cities with the people understand the positive impact of
help of air-purifying plants planting more plants, specifically air-purifying
ones, in urban communities to somehow reduce
the worsening condition of the air.

What is the importance of research in your daily life as a student most especially in your chosen strand?

As a student under the STEM strand, research has become a vital part of my daily life because it helped me
develop my critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. Research forces me to get out of my comfort zone and
think outside the box, especially when it comes to exploring and experimenting different things. In addition, it
encourages me to always keep an open-mind about a certain concept since my perspective about things is not
always the right one. Research helped me learn how to love learning about new things, especially about the
different sciences, mathematics, and technology.

READING AND WRITING WEEK 1

GO BEYOND 10-20 WORD ESSAY
ABOUT: MY EXPERIENCE IN THIS MODE OF LEARNING FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR
300-450 words

CVL
: the function of the holy spirit that works in the dilemma of albert is fortitude or courage. This function
challenges Albert to take the risk and stand for what is right despite the possible consequences of his actions.
This allows Albert to be firm of his values and endure any temptations.

If I was Albert, I will not be tempted nor persuaded by my best friend to copy his answers even if that leads to
me disappointing my parents. I will accept the grade that I deserve and learn from my mistakes because even
though I want to make my parents proud, I know that they will be prouder in knowing that I stood by my
values as a follower of Christ.

Yes, I think Linda needs enlightenment because she needs to understand her younger sister’s situation.
However, Linda’s feelings are valid because every child needs love and attention from their parents and it is
understandable that she grew a feeling of resentment for her parents. But this attitude should not be
tolerated. Instead of hating them forever, she should open up to her parents about what she feels to solve the
conflict between them.
WISDOM- I will not use ad hominem to the people who are against my presidential bet for this upcoming
national election, but instead, I will patiently explain to them the reason behind my choice and continue to
respect them as a person.
FORTITUDE- I will not remain neutral in my political views and I will not be quiet about it, especially if it
concerns the future of the Filipino people, even if that means I will receive backlash from the opposition.
PIETY- I will continue to worship the Lord by reading the Bible and making time to talk to Him every day. I will
continue to pray for my family, my friends, my teachers, the healthcare workers, and everyone else affected
by the pandemic so they would always be safe.
FEAR OF THE LORD- I will continue to abide by the commandments of the Lord and avoid spreading hate and
pain to my neighbors who do not share the same beliefs and values as mine. I will care for them just as God
cares for me and offer them help in times of need.
