CAP1 screenshots Financial Accounting Practice Paper

Introduction Page

-This page contains the instructions for the exam the student is sitting.
- It lays out the time allotted for the exam; questions to be answered.
- Each question is called a ‘Part’ – and shows what questions on the Cirrus platform relate to each part.
- The appendices can be viewed using the ‘Resource’ button.
- Click the button to begin the exam. Students will have to scroll down to the end of the screen to click the button.
Exam page icons

- Exam timer
- Ability to increase/decrease text on screen
- button displays the complete number of questions the student must answer.
- The updates as students answer each question.
- This function allows the students to jump to any question they wish, without having to navigate through each individual question.
- The button displays the ‘Instructions to candidates’ page.
- The button allows students to flag a question if they want a reminder to return to this question before completing the exam.
- The ‘Flagged’ question appear as shown below when a student clicks into the button.
Starting the exam:

- The case material relating to the requirements of the paper is located on the left side of the screen. The student will see the ‘Requirement’ on
the right side of the screen. The answer will be typed into the text box below the ‘Requirement’.
Sample solution to an essay style question:
- Students can use bullet points, bold and underline text within their answer.
- Students can maximise their answer box, by clicking on the icon below.
- Students can also use the Section text box pop out box arrow and maximise the answer text box.

Click the arrow box and then click the ‘Maximise’ button.

This way students can see the Section Text box while the answer text box is maximised.
Sample answer to a question that requires a ‘Statement of Financial Position’:

- Students can build a template for this question using the icon as shown below. Students can choose the number of rows and
columns.
- Sample solution of ‘Statement of Financial Position’.

Students have the ability to add ‘Header rows’ and delete rows/columns if needed
To quickly add additional rows, students can use the ‘Tab’ button.
- Sample solution of the workings for this question that requires multiple columns within the answer.
- To input text either above or below a table that has been built, students will need to click highlight the table yellow and click either the arrow for above or
below the table.
- The appendices can be viewed using the button as shown below. Should the case material contain an appendices, this appendices can
be viewed using the ‘Resource’ button. Please note that not all requirements have a need for an appendices.
- Students can drag the appendices across the screen and widen. Students can have the appendices open while typing in the answer.
- Students can have the appendices open while typing in the answer and having the answer text box maximised. Firstly open the ‘Resource/
Appendix’ then click the ‘maximise button’ for the answer text box.
- Resources can be maximised to full screen.
- The student will click on the complete assessment button to submit their exam. If a student runs out of time before they click this button, their
exam will automatically be submitted for marking. It displays any questions unanswered/flagged by the student.
- The student will be asked once again if they wish to submit their exam. Once the finish button has been pressed, students cannot return to their
exam.
Self-assessment of Practice Papers:

- The Practice Papers are not marked and will be self-assessed by the student.
- The student score will show as zero as no script is marked. Students will click on the ‘Results’ arrow to show all answers from their script.
Students then need to go down all the answers and click the ‘Show more’ so all the students answer will show.
‘Right click’ mouse and select print/save as PDF to view answers. Once this screen has been exited, students cannot retrieve their
script/answers.
