1. Creation of a Global Village
• coined by Herbert Marshall McLuhan, a Canadian
communication theorist
• refers to the world viewed as a community in which
distance and isolation have been dramatically reduced
by electronic media (Merriam-Webster)
• people are connected by technology, and are dependent
to each other
• widespread use of social media facilitate the exchange
of ideas treating everyone as neighbor, instead of
stranger
