well.

Explain the importance of the speech at the time it was given, and tell how it applies to American citizens today.
Importance at the time:
It was an importance at the time because Martin Luther King jr. was making and representing the black lives
movement were black lives were treated unfairly from white live swhich is compeltely terrible. he would chnage
this forever and now black lives are able to do every thing that white people could do back then now everyone
can do it, just because the color of their skin is different doesnt mean our hearts and love for any person isnt the
same.

How it applies today:

It applies today because history is Martin Luther King Jr. is history he created this movement and then so many
people fought for their rights that every citizen should have no matter what the color of their skin is.

Choose a sentence or two from the speech that has significant meaning to you, and tell your counselor why.
“I have a dream that one day right there in Alabama little black boys and little black girls will be able to join
hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.", “We will not be satisfied until justice rolls
down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.”. This does not have a big significant meaning to me
I just respect this man so much that if he would’t have done what he did, I wouldnt be able to hang out with
black people and then white people would just be treated so much better than them, and I love to do the right
thing in bad situations thats’s why I look up to Martin Luther King jr. so so so much.

7. Name the three branches of our federal government and explain to your counselor their functions. Explain how citizens are
involved in each branch. For each branch of government, explain the importance of the system of checks and balances.
Branch: Legislative
They set out laws for America or states and they all have different court requirments
Function: and they are all decided on votes.

The Citizen involvement is key because without voting then this would not exist and
Citizen Involvement: probably most of it is all based on citizen’s votes for what they wnat to change or
create or remove.

The checks and balances are key to survival with this branch if it werent for the checks
Importance of Checks then there could be mistakes in the voting numbers or the law itself with checking
& Balances: through secure ways then they can ensure the saftey and the non malleable change to
the votes, or the law itself.

Branch: Executive
In this branch they carry out the laws which means they formerlly make it and publish
Function: it as it is going to be moved on to judical branch where it is made a law.

The citizen envolvement is low but not too low most people like judges or lawers and
Citizen Involvement: some citizens in jury and the president and other things that are gonna change form
that law.

The importance is that they are goping to finalize these votes and finalize the right of

Judicial
Branch:
Function: Judicial is when the law is primarlly made a law or not made a law, with
each side of law then the people of the supreme court will now decide
on this vote and how the vote is going to carry out.

Citizen Involvement: the citizen involvement is high but is presnt with the jury and the
selected votes for the law and non for the law are finalized and then
taken into place by the jury they vote as they have not voted yet and
can sometimes steer the whole vote in different directions

Importance of Checks The importance of checks is key to the saftey of the vote that wil and
& Balances: can be helf for ne or I as I is the "yes" and "no" is the ne. So when
these are voted on then the laws are finalized and then they are both
made into a seperate vote catagory and then counted on and then
which ever one wins the vote then that happens.
