III. LEARNING MOMENTS

a. LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

- By the end of the lesson the student reads a text and reflects about the place he/she
lives.

b. STAGES OF THE LESSON

( SKILL LESSON: LISTENING-SPEAKING-READING-WRITING)

1. LEAD IN:
5-8 MINUTES

- The teacher first presents a picture, where they have to answer the questions: Where
are the two girls? What are they doing? What do you think the relationship between
them is? How are they feeling?.
- The teacher focuses the attention of the students in the title, and the teacher asks:
Where is your home? What do you like about it?, and students talk in pairs.
- Then the teacher asks 1-3, and the students have to discuss in groups.

2. PRE-LIST/SPEAK/READ/WRITE

- The teacher tells the students one thing the teacher likes about the town/city where
the teacher lives and one thing the teacher doesn’t like.
- Then the teacher organizes students into pairs. The teacher asks them to think of
three things they like about where they live and three things they don't like.

- Then the teacher shows ten adjectives.

- Then the teacher asks concept questions, e.g. If a place is dull, is it an exciting place
to be? Is it a boring place? If a place is industrial, are there a lot of green fields and
quiet spaces? Are there a lot of factories?

- The teacher asks students to look at the photos and asks them to describe what they
see.

3. WHILE

- Then the students check their predictions by reading the first line of the blog.
- The teacher gives students a two-minute time limit to read the blog.
- Then the teacher gives the students a further four minutes to complete the task.
Exercise 4, page number 10.
- The teacher asks the students to correct the untrue statements and they have to share
them with the class. Exercise 5, page number 10.
- The teacher tells the students that they are going to complete an activity which will
help them to develop the reading skill.
- The teacher organizes students into pairs and challenges them to see who can be the
first to match the definitions with the words and phrases in the text which have the
same meaning. Exercise 6, page number 10.

4. POST

-
- The teacher gives students a minute to read the quotes. The students should work in
pairs to match the quotes with the person (or people) from the text who would be most
likely to say them. Exercise 7, page number 10
- Then the teacher organizes students into small discussion groups. The teacher
focuses their attention on the questions and reads them together as a class. The
students talk as much as they can. Exercise 8, page number 10.
