FINISHING
Sew the buttons onto the yokes, 1 button
onto the final stitches of the yoke and the
other one in the middle. Close the front
panel with the buttons. Lay the sweater
down flat with the front and back panel
neatly on top of each other. Sew the
side seams stitch by stitch together until
12/13/14 cm of armhole length remains.
Weave in all ends. Crochet the sleeves
into the armholes.
SLEEVES FOR ALL SIZES
Rnd 1: join into the armpit, crochet
1 round of sc, 1 stitch on the side of
1 round of sc, 2 stitches on the side of
1 round of dc. Make sure it doesn’t
become wobbly. If it does, then occa-
sionally crochet 1 stitch per round of dc.
It shouldn’t become too tight either, so
divide the stitches evenly. Join the round
with 1 sl st in the 1st stitch.
Rnd 2: 2 ch, turn, 1 dc in next stitch, 1 ch,
skip 1 stitch, *2 dc, 1 ch, skip 1 stitch*, rep
from *to* to the end of the round, close
with 1 sl st in the 2nd starting ch.
Rnd 3: 1 ch, turn, 1 sc in every stitch,
close the round with 1 sl st in the
1st stitch.
Rnd 4: rep Rnd 2 and 3 up to a total
sleeve length of 18/22/26 cm from the
armpit. Make sure to finish with 1 round

Start with the 2.5 mm crochet hook.
BEADED STRING
Thread the yarn through a bead and
tie 1-2 knots to prevent the bead from
slipping. Make 1 sc around the end of

HASSOCK AND BASKETS

You wouldn’t say, but the basis of this cool hassock really
is a car tire. This is sustainable living and recycling at its
best! You can also enjoy the hassock outdoors during
beautiful summer evenings, for example as a side table.

HASSOCK
The advice for the hook thickness on the
ball of yarn is 10-12 mm but you're going
to crochet it on the 7-8 mm hook to get
the yarn tightly around the hassock. For
the sheet, use old cabinet parts or an old
shelf. Visit the sawmill department of a
home improvement store, where you can
sometimes buy wood sheets for a small
price. Since this is a recycling project, we
chose to use yarn made from recycled
materials as well.
For the top of the hassock, join each
round with 1 sl st in the 1st hdc. Start the
next round with 2 ch (= 1st dc). The sides
are crocheted in a spiral. This way you
do not close the round, but you continue
crocheting in the next round.

FRAME
Start by creating the frame for the car
tire. The tire used in this project has a
diameter of 60 cm and a height of 20 cm.
If your tire has a different size, you may
have to crochet less or more rounds.
If you have reached the right diameter
before Rnd 24, then continue crocheting
from Rnd 25 according to the pattern,
and keep on working with your own
number of stitches per round. The height
can also vary, due to the car tire and the
thickness of the wood. So keep measur-
ing throughout your work. Measure the
diameter of the car tire and mark this size
2 x on a wooden sheet. With a jigsaw, saw
2 x the diameter . From the center,
mark a cross towards the sides and make
sure every angle is at 90° . At these
4 points, place the casters and screw
them to the sheet . Attach the sheets
to the tire: one sheet on top and attach
the one with the casters to the bottom.

To prevent the tent from sagging, put
some wood glue on the inside of the tent
cloth to make it sturdier. The trees will
stay upright when you stuff them with
fiberfill and place a small bag of rice at
the bottom.
TENT
Cut 30 cm of electrical wire or plastic-
coated garden wire. Bend it into an
equilateral triangle. Cut another 20 cm
of wire, sew it to the tent cloth and bend
the wire into a two-legged triangle.
TENT CLOTH
Crochet one tent cloth with Soft Yellow
and one with mint. So crochet the tent
cloth twice if you like to make 2 tents.
