LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH-GRADE 7

I. Objectives:
At the end of the 1-hour lesson, the students shall be able to:
a. Define art of questioning;
b. Differentiate strong and weak question;
c. Understand importance of features of questioning; and
d. Utilize art of questioning through writing.

1. Preliminaries

It’s a great day to learn something new first, let's check the (Students will utter a short
attendance and make sure to follow the seat plan. Also, kindly prayer.)
check if there is any trash around you and please do pick it up.
Then, let us all rise and start our class with a prayer.
Keep anything that is irrelevant to our subject on your bags
because I just want to see your notebooks, writing pads, and (Students do as they are
pens. If you’re all done, you may have your seats. told.)

QUESTION TO WONDER!
Instructions:
Using any sheet of paper, write one (1) question that you want to
ask your classmate. Roll it, then the teacher will call and read
random questions from the rolled papers. Using the wheel of
names, the name who’s to appears on the screen will answer the
question.
Processing Questions:
1. What was your impression of the given task?
2. What have you observed to the given questions? Is there
any comparison that you can draw out of all the given
questions?
3. How can you classify those questions? How about the way
it was constructed?
Very good, you are all right!

Transitional statement:
As observed in the activity, the questions may somehow sound
difficult to answer or easy. And the complexity as well of how it’s
constructed varies. So, here comes the focus of asking a question
and making it much more understandable and the like. That is what
we called art of questioning.

III. ABSTRACTION

Art of Questioning refers to the style of questioning that develops


systematic approach to critical thinking. It usually begins and
addresses the use of language arguments. Also, it evaluates
explanation from answered questions

Classification of Question:

Weak Questions: (information can be given right away without


giving any reason)
The answer can be given quickly because mostly the information is
factual.
1. What is a modern youth?
2. Do you consider yourself as being one?

Strong Questions: (seek for information that is drawn from an


explanation/arguments)
The answer comes from the person’s opinion based from his/her
experiences, interests, and even issues
that he/she has witnessed in the society.
1. Why there are some teenagers seem so different from the old
ways since Filipinos are tagged as
conservative stereotype of people?
2. How does this new lifestyle the so-called youth modernization
can be adapted easily by the parents
nowadays?

How to write question effectively?

1. Clearly tied to the topic being discussed


➢ The questions must be brief and direct to the point which related
to the topic.

2. Reflective of the panelists’ perspectives, experiences, and


interests
➢ Ask questions which the panelists can draw more interaction and
enable to enrich powerful ideas.

3. Addressing the issues, challenges, or interest of the audience


➢ Questions that are based on the issues presented so that the
audience can actively participate.
4. Going to ignite a conversation
➢ Ask questions that all participants can share their ideas
enthusiastically.

Features of questioning:

Here are the vital essentiality of these features:

1. It can lead students to actively engage with the content they are
learning.
2. It can expand their thinking, promote reflection, clarify
understanding, and require new ways
of thinking about ideas, concepts, beliefs, opinions, problems, and
solutions.
3. It helps students monitor their understanding and construct
meaning.
4. It enables learners to drive to find answers and they are curious
about what they will discover.

Concluding statement:

And so, it is important to make sure that you just don’t ask
question, rather than integrating art on it make it sound natural and
making a conversation more colorful and interesting.

PRACTICE
Instructions: Using T-Chart, write a question incorporating your
knowledge on the art of questioning. The first column shall
comprise of 5 questions, while the second column for your answers
to the questions.
