A. Background

Plan International is an international child and youth development organization dedicated to promote
the realization of children and young people’s rights, especially girl’s rights, in both development and
humanitarian settings. Plan International in Myanmar is supporting a broad spectrum of initiatives
designed to support integrated child development and youth empowerment outcomes that are
strategically aligned with the national government’s priorities. Sectors of focus include: Early
Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Nutrition
(MNCHN), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Child
Protection, Education, Adolescent Development, Youth Economic Empowerment, Youth-Led Peace
Building and Social Cohesion, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Non-Communicable
Disease (NCD) Prevention among young people.

B. Objectives

PIM is looking for an experienced company/individual(s) to provide high quality review and editing of
training resources documents. The services specifically relate to documents in the areas of Gender in
Education in Emergencies, Disability and Diversity Inclusion, Education in Crisis, Gender in
Emergencies, Gender Equality Disability and Social Inclusion, MHPSS, Early Childhood Care and
Development (ECCD), Informal Education sectors, and Child Protection.

The engagement for this assignment will be under the overall supervision of the Project
Implementation Manager (ECW), and the Gender Specialist. Required technical support or reviews
from Technical Advisors will be available on a need’s basis.

C. Deliverables

• High quality editing/reviewing of resource documents, courses and modules with layout and
design as in original resource documents.
• Review translated material for accuracy of meaning, grammar and syntax.
• Edit and proofread the Myanmar text document to accurately reflect the original English text.
• Possess working knowledge on Gender and Inclusion in Education, Education in Crisis and Quality
Education and safe learning for children, for which translation is sought to ensure linguistic
accuracy, terminologies used, and use accurately the most accepted terms and styles of
communication (particularly adherence to cultural context).
• Ensure high quality and accuracy of the document before submission.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times and the copyright to the document(s) will be permanently
held by PIM.

D. Scope of Work

• To edit/review/proofread the translated version of the EiE-GenKit training resource documents in


line with original layout and design.
• Documents are 501 pages with layout design.
• No need to read illustrated pages.
• Concurrent submission will be required to expedite finalization as agreed with Plan International.
• Reviewed/edited resource documents will be required to be submitted in Myanmar Unicode font
(Pyidaungsu)

F. Project Management

Meet with the ECW team (Gender advisor, Education advisor, EiE and GEI specialists) from Country
Office at Plan International Myanmar for review, revise and reword the translated document as
necessary. The final approved revised Myanmar version of GenKit resource book will be produced at
the completion of the assignment.

The Consultant will report to the ECW project manager and GLO gender specialist.

The payment schedule will be as follows:

• First installment: 30% of the consultancy payment will be made upon agreement of the work
plan
• Second and final installment: 70% of the consultancy payment will be made upon the
acceptance of the final delivery of the proofread/edited GenKit resource book.

G. Safeguarding and Prevention Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse

Plan International is committed to creating a safe environment for children and programme
participants, including promoting child and programme participant safe practices, approaches,
interventions and environments which respect, recognize and respond to the specific safeguarding
needs and the different protection risks faced by children and programme participants based on their
gender and other identities. We will challenge and do not tolerate inequality, discrimination or
exclusion.

The consultant must be sign off Global Safeguarding, PSHEA Policy and Non-Staff Code of Conduct.
He/she acquire a sound knowledge of Plan's safeguarding procedures especially ethical principle, and
respected and protected dignity, right and safety of children and programme participants, ensure that
all activities are carried out in line with them, understand that if a serious breach of these policies
occurs, Plan International may terminate this agreement without notice.
