LIVING A COMMITTED LIFE
LIVING A COMMITTED LIFE
LIVING A COMMITTED LIFE
Commitment means dedication to a cause larger than yourself. We can transform our fear and
anxiety into commitment and action. In committing to a purpose larger than our own lives, we are
freed from the smallness of our own minds and catapulted into inspired action.
Living a committed life will bring you great freedom and profound fulfillment and joy
When you devote yourself to a higher calling, your little clod of ailments and grievances disappear. A
commitment bigger than your own needs and wants lifts you out of your personal circumstances. It
lifts you out of upsets about things not going your way. It pulls you out of the smallness and elevates
you to a place where you find the strength and courage to generate your life out of possibility.
You make the commitment and then the talent and resources start to become visible
People want to see the way forward before they commit but that doesn’t work that way. The
moment one commits oneself, things start to organise themselves around what needs to happen
People often want to keep their options open, but in my experience it is not making a commitment
that traps you. Keeping your options open gets tiresome after a while. When you make a
commitment, then you have real freedom. When you are unshakeable in your commitment, it
liberates you
Inner guidance comes through feelings in your own body, our guts our intuition. It also comes from
Nature, through peak experiences and even though breakdowns.
Engage with people at a soul level enabling them to align their money to their deepest desires and
commitments.
It brings great relief when we realise it isn’t up to us to figure out all the steps to manifest our vision
because we are participants in a larger cosmic will. Nevertheless, it is our job to discover what our
unique gift is and to give our gift while trusting that the rest will work itself out.
Contemplate the source that you trust to guide you on your path to commitment
TRASNSFORMATION
When you change a situation, different outcomes may result but unless there is a fundamental shift,
IN HOW THE SITUATION IS PERCEIVED, the same problems may arise again and again.
Transformation is a change in how we perceive the world that allows us to accept embrace and even
celebrate what has occurred. As a result, things show up and look different and then new behaviours
and actions begin to flow from a new source. We change in the way we act and respond
The shift must happen within ourselves, how we choose to interpret something differently
We don’t have absolute omnipotence over the circumstances of our lives, but we do have it over
how we choose to respond to them. Over that we have total power. A new conversation shifts the
context and the actions we take
The way to transform a situation is by SHIFTING THE CONTEXT, essentially, telling a NEW STORY. New
story redefines reality
WE need to stimulate our imaginations and generate new visions. All of the institutions of society are
falling apart right in front of out eyes and we are awakening from our numbness and denial. We need
to be regenerated, wake up and create a new world.
Yet often when we wake up, we fall into a sense of fear and anxiety about the future, when we really
know what is happening, we risk being caught in negativity. WHY is this happening to us?
Changing the preposition from to to for inspires us to see situations differently. When we live in the
story that the circumstances we face are happening to us, we are the victims and have no power.
When we live in a story that the circumstances are happening FOR US, WE ARE OPEN TO LEARNING
DEVELOPING and receiving feedback that inspires us to evolve and grow
A shift in perspective will change your life. Once you pay attention to what it could be the
possibilities are endless.
When you worry your energy goers toward what you don’t want.
Being a possibilist doesn’t mean being in denial. Possibility includes and acknowledges obstacles and
the shadow side and allows them to be.
Fear is often our first reaction to obstacles and free floating anxiety can stop us from taking action.
Possibility opens new vistas and ways of being in the future
The first step in making a commitment is acknowledging what is so now and what is in the way. What
is the resistance to what you are seeking to achieve?
It is our responsibility to create possibility for ourselves, for the people we love and for the planet.
You haver to invent ways of being that you haven’t known before, find resources you don’t even
know exist.
Gratitude creates a sense of abundance, the knowing that you have what you need
We have adequate resources and yet are driven by the desire for more. This is a scarcity mindset
- There is not enough- so we have to compete and fight with each other. This creates a
separateness. It creates people hoarding and accumulating way more than they need
- More is better- this drives our consumerist culture
- That is just the way it is- resignation makes us feel hopeless and breeds cynicism
True abundance exists and it flows through the portal of sufficiency- the recognition of enough. You
contribute from your experience of being complete and fulfilled
If I realise that I am enough just the way I am, then I AM FREE TO focus on making a difference with
my life
You experience true abundance by being grateful for what you already have. If you let go of trying to
get more of what you don’t really need, it frees up oceans of energy to pay attention to what you
already have. When you are grateful for what you have it expands
Awareness of the challenges you face enables you to navigate them finding yourself with capacities
that you may not know you have
BEING TESTED
THE BEST moments often occur when a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary
effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile
It is in the process of developing the desired result that you gain the skills you need, that you are
forged into the person you need to be
When you live a committed life, you become intolerant of injustice and unstoppable in addressing
the things that you believe in. that stance is a blessing but also a liability. You feel the world’s
problems in your cells and in your body
As we let that pain in, we become a vehicle for transformation. If we block the pain we are
preventing our participation in the world’s attempt to heal itself
Service is an opportunity to transform your own hurt into growth, to deepen your own compassion
Failure is simply feedback. If you are committed, your failures are your most valuable feedback. If you
are open, every failure reveals something you did not see or understand
If that pathway didn’t work out, you figure out why and then move on to another pathway
Sometimes after you have failed and given up, something miraculous happens to resurrect your
intention
It takes humility and the ability to let go- let go of your ego, your old agenda, a strategy that isn’t
working
You can persevere by taking the time to examine what went wrong and what may lie ahead
Making the Distinction between giving up and giving over to guidance is a CRUCIAL ONE
Use your failures and feedback to reassess and redesign your next move
LETTING GO AND LETTING YOURSELF BE GUIDED BY SOURCE, THE UNIVERSE, OR YOUR OWN
VERSION OF GUIDANCE BECOMES THE WAY FORWARD
However it happens, it takes courage and resilience to follow the true callings of your commitment.
Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know
Closure is a process that allows you to free yourself from the past
You assess the learning and forgive yourself and others for failures
In the new telling you look for what you are grateful for in that experience and what you learned as a
result
STEP 2- resolve any regrets with willingness and humility. What behaviour patterns are revealed that
aren’t working? Don’t beat yourself up. Own your mistakes and learn from them
Anytime you are holding a grudge against another person your energy is tied up. The point of closure
is feeing up your energy and your spirit
STEP 4- invent the next story. When something ends there is something new that’s beginning. What
possibilities do you want to create?
This process is not necessarily linear. Human beings are entitled to the dignity of their own process
and timing
Clearing and closure pave the way for our best efforts to succeed
Honorable closure and forgiveness encourage growth and learning and foster freedom and fulfilment
CREATING YOUR COMMITTED LIFE
Don’t ask what the world needs, asks what makes you come alive and go do that
Every person is born to express their talent and treasure in the direction of forging a better world
Burnout occurs when you are disconnected from Source which means the higher self
Of course we need to act on problems on the material plane, but if we neglect to connect with the
spiritual dimension, we can end up reinforcing or exacerbating the problems
Engaging with spiritual power can give us access to solutions we might not otherwise be aware of
PRACTICING GRATITUDE
You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that
makes the existing one obsolete
Our vision must be clear and purposeful powerful enough to pull us out of the trance that modern
society has created, strong enough to overcome pessimism and reluctance to change
WHAT IS YOURS TO DO
SELF-CARE- ensuring your own health, well-being and financial stability- is an act of responsibility in
the face of a commitment larger than your own life
No matter how upset or tired you are, there is power in reconnecting with your vision and knowing
that it still lives in your heart
When you commit to a vision larger than your own life it is humbling
You are freed from the obsession with your own identity. It shapes you into the person you need to
be. It creates a clearing for your life to have meaning
