The diagram illustrates the various stages in the desalination of seawater to make it suitable for drinking. It can be
clearly seen that there are three stages in the desalination.
First of all, water is taken from the sea and then pass through a pre-treatment filter where the big impurities are
removed. This backwash is then piped back into the sea through another filter. At the next stage in the process, the
remaining water is forced through a membrane at high pressure and any impurities including salt are removed. After that,
the seawater concentrate is returned to the sea while the remaining water goes through a post treatment process. In this
phase, the water is treated with lime, chlorine and fluoride in order to make it drinkable before it is stored in reservoir.
Finally, the desalinated water is distributed to the integrated water supply system for people to use as drinking water.
In summary, desalination involves a process of purification of water followed by filtration and adding chemical
agents.

IELTS Speaking Part 2:
Question 1
Describe a major decision you have taken in your life.
You should say:
– What the decision was
– What other choices were available to you
– Why you made the decision you did
And explain if you think the decision was a good one.
Answer : A really important decision I’ve made recently is to study abroad, which is the reason I’m here
talking to you now. No-one from my family has ever had the chance to study abroad before. My parents were
actually hoping I’d start working for our family textile business as soon as I graduate. I think it’s too soon to join
the family business though. I really want to study marketing – especially fashion marketing – and English so I
can sell our company products to buyers all over the world. If I study fashion marketing in the UK, I can learn
how to do business in the fashion industry, which is of course very competitive and fast-moving. As for whether
it was the right decision, I’m pretty confident it was and I can’t change my mind now anyway because I
borrowed money from my parents to pay for my tuition. I’m going to do my best to finish my course and I will go
back to my country with new ideas that will help expand our business. All I need now is to get a good score in
IELTS. So, anyway, that’s an important decision in my life.

The diagram explains the way in which bricks are made for the building industry. Overall,
there are seven stages in the process, beginning with the digging up of clay and culminating in
delivery.
1. To begin, the clay used to make the bricks is dug up from the ground by a large digger.
2. Second, this clay is then placed onto a metal grid, which is used to break up the clay into
smaller pieces. A roller assists in this process.
3. Following this, sand and water are added to the clay, and this mixture is turned into
bricks by either placing it into a mould or using a wire cutter.
4. Next, these bricks are placed in an oven to dry for 24 – 48 hours.
5. In the subsequent stage, the bricks go through a heating and cooling process.
6. They are heated in a kiln at a moderate and then a high temperature (ranging from 200c
to 1300c), followed by a cooling process in a chamber for 2 – 3 days.
7. Finally, the bricks are packed and delivered to their destinations.
In conclusion, the brick manufacturing process can be made by seven stages.
