II. RATIONALE

K to 12 Basic Education curriculum prepares students to become functional literate

citizens with competencies suited for the global job market. As one of its highlights is the
Work Immersion Program, which aims to provide experience in a workplace setting that is
according to DepEd Order No. 30 s. 2017.
For the STEM learners, they opt to choose STEM Capstone Project. It is designed to
prepare STEM learners for lifelong learning, effective and productive citizenship through the
opportunity to plan, complete and present a self-directed culminating project reflecting their
personal interest. Capstone projects are designed to encourage students to think critically,
solve challenging problems and develop skills such as oral communication, public speaking,
research skills, media literacy, teamwork, planning, self-sufficiency, and goal setting skills
that will help them prepare for college, modern careers, and adult life. As an interdisciplinary
subject, students may apply skills or investigate issues across many different subject areas
and demonstrate the most important components of their K-12 learning.
In connection with enriching the learners’ learning experiences, the goal of this
program is to expose our learners to the manufacturing industries, laboratories, and schools
within the region. This scientific observation and exposure will strengthen their interest in
their chosen field as future engineers, scientists, and STEM-related works.

III. OBJECTIVES
CAPSTONE PROJECT – SCIENTIFIC EXPOSURE (GRADE 12 STEM)
primarily seeks the following objectives:
1. To better equip senior high school students especially the Grade 12 STEM for
college, work, or business
2. To develop life and career skills and have attitudes, appreciation, and respect
for work.
3. To allow them to have a smooth transition from school to work after they gain
valuable experience.
4. To acquaint the Grade 12 STEM students with the present-day methods and
technology for better conceptual understanding.
5. To observe how products are made and the processes involved in their
production.

Greetings of Peace and Love!

The STEM Capstone Project is designed to prepare STEM learners for lifelong learning, and
effective and productive citizenship through the opportunity to plan, complete, and a self-directed
culminating project reflecting their personal interest. Capstone projects are designed to encourage
students to think critically, solve challenging problems, and develop skills such as oral
communication, public speaking, research skills, media literacy, teamwork, planning, self-sufficiency,
and goal-setting skills that will help them prepare for college, modern careers, and adult life. As an
interdisciplinary subject, students may apply skills or investigate issues across many different subject
areas and demonstrate the most important components of their K-12 learning. Likewise, it will also
encourage students to connect their projects to community issues or problems and to integrate outside-
of-school learning experiences.

Anent this, we would like to ask permission from your good office to allow us to conduct the
SCIENTIFIC EXPOSURE for our STEM Learners on March 20-22, 2024, in the provinces of
Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato and Sarangani and to include the cities of Koronadal and Gen. Santos.
We would like to expose our learners to the manufacturing industries, laboratories, and schools in the
region to enrich the learners’ learning experiences. This scientific observation and exposure will truly
strengthen their interest in their chosen field as future engineers, scientists, doctors, and STEM-related
workers. Attached herewith is the itinerary, activity design, and minutes of the Parents’ Meeting for
your reference.
We highly anticipate and appreciate your consideration for the approval of this humble
request.

Sincerely,

PINKY C. CAPILITAN

MINUTES OF THE MEETING

DATE: January 15, 2024

(See Attendance Attachment)

001—The meeting was held at Bambad National High School Gymnasium right after the
Special Meeting for Grade 12 SHS Parents Special Meeting. The separate meeting for STEM
Parents started at exactly 10:15 am. It was attended by 35 parents, so in quorum.
002—Ma’am Pinky C. Capilitan, the Capstone Project Adviser, presided over the meeting.
003—The presider and the adviser (Sir Garcia) explained the goal and objectives of the
Capstone Project together with the undertakings involved in the subject.
004—Ma’am Friales, one of the parents clarified, if it is required or not. Then, Ma’am
Capilitan answered the query that it was part of the subject. She then explained that they will
have this Scientific Exposure to different manufacturing industries, laboratories, and the
school as part of the subject course. She added that it will be at least 2-3 days of stay and
exposure.
005—Parents raised to cast their votes if they would like to pursue or agree to this Scientific
Exposure of their student. As a result, it was a majority.
006—The parents also opted to expose the STEM students within the region only. And so,
South Cotabato, Gensan, and Sarangani Province will be the target areas.
007—Parents also agreed that they would spend quite a large amount of money. A breakdown
of budgetary requirements and itinerary will be sent to the group chat. Thus, there would be
an emergency meeting if necessary for the upcoming updates and concerns, parents agreed
and seconded.
008—Mrs. Patosa asked if we could ask for transportation assistance to LGU or the Province
to lessen the expenses and agreed and seconded.
009—Sir Abas S. Dollente (Principal) and Sir Gerard A. Jullar (Asst. to the Principal in SHS)
were also present in the meeting.
