analytics, and automation to optimize resource management, detect crop diseases, monitor
livestock, and support data-driven decision making. By collecting real-time data from
various sources and providing actionable insights, the platform enables precise irrigation,
early intervention against diseases and pests, and efficient farming operations.

4. Explain the features, functions and working principles/technology/pattern of your

proposed solution.

o Smart Irrigation System

o Crop Health Monitoring
o Livestock Monitoring and Management
6
o Automated Greenhouse Climate Control
o Supply Chain Traceability
5. Enlist the major advantages and disadvantages (at least three) of the proposed
solution.
Major advantages of the proposed Smart Farming Platform solution:
1. Increased efficiency and productivity through optimized resource management and
automation.
2. Early detection of crop diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and pest infestations, leading to
timely intervention and minimized crop losses.
3. Data-driven decision making with actionable insights, intuitive dashboards, and predictive
analytics.
Major disadvantages of the proposed Smart Farming Platform solution:
1. Initial implementation costs for IoT devices, sensors, infrastructure, and data analytics
capabilities.
2. Requirement for technical expertise and ongoing maintenance to operate and troubleshoot
the system.
3. Data privacy and security risks, necessitating robust security measures to protect sensitive
agricultural data.

6. Briefly mention refinement on PDC based on User/Stakeholder’s feedback on

your concept.
HAPPY STORY: Farmers implementing an IoT-based agriculture system
experienced significant improvements in their crop yields and resource
management. With real-time data on soil moisture, temperature, and weather
forecasts, they were able to optimize irrigation schedules, leading to healthier
plants and increased productivity. The automated pest monitoring and early
detection system helped them identify and address pest infestations promptly,
resulting in reduced crop losses. The integration of IoT technologies streamlined
farming operations, saving time and labor. Overall, the farmers witnessed
enhanced sustainability, profitability, and job satisfaction.

SAD STORY: A group of farmers invested heavily in implementing an IoT-based

agriculture system but faced various challenges. Technical issues and connectivity
problems caused frequent disruptions in the data collection process, leading to
unreliable information. The farmers struggled to interpret the data and lacked the
necessary expertise to leverage its full potential. Moreover, the high costs of IoT
devices and maintenance put a strain on their finances. Inadequate training and
support further hindered their ability to fully utilize the system. Despite the initial
enthusiasm, the farmers experienced limited improvements in crop yields.
