skills. During an interview, you’ll be asked questions to see if you fit these criteria. Being prepared with good
answers can boost your confidence and help you succeed. In this lesson, we'll discuss common housekeeping
interview questions and provide sample answers to help you get ready.
1. Can you describe about yourself? Tell me about yourself?
Good afternoon, my name is [Your Name]. I am [age] years old and originally from Myanmar, Yangon. I have
over [number of years] years of experience working as a Hotel Housekeeper in Myanmar. I decided to come to
Dubai { Country Name} to seek new experiences and knowledge that will help me improve my life and career. I
am a dedicated and hardworking person in Housekeeping, and I believe that my skills and experience make me
a suitable candidate for this position.

2. Where are you staying now? / What is your visa status?

I am currently staying Duai/ Sharga, UAE with 2 months visit visa [ Answer your Address ]

3. How long have you been here in UAE or Singapore?


I have been here in UAE about 2 weeks ago and I was visiting around the famous places of Dubai and studying
the culture.
4. Do you have any friend or family’s members in UAE or Singapore?

Yes sir, I have some friends who are working in here but no family members.
5. Where did you work before? Can you tell me about your previous jobs experiences? Do you have
any work experience before?
I worked at Sedona Hotel and The Central Hotel for three years as a room attendant.

6. How long have you worked there?

I worked at Sedona Hotel2 years (from Feb 2022 to Jan 2023)

7. What is the star rating of your previous hotel?

Yes sir, It is a 4 stars hotel with 120 rooms.


8. How many rooms/restaurant/bar/coffee shop/ in there/in your previous hotel?
Yes sir, there are 120 rooms , 2 restaurant, 1 bar, 1 coffee shop and 1 spa in my previous hotel.
9. What are the rooms categories of your previous hotel or hotel name?

Yes sir, there are Standard rooms, deluxe rooms, suites, and executive rooms were available.
10. Total how many team’s member in your outlet/ HK department?

Yes sir, Our team had 25 members, including one HK Manager and two supervisors.

11. What is your duties and responsibilities in your previous job?


Yes sir, my Duties and Responsibilities are Receive Keys, work assignment and briefing from supervisor. Enters
and prepares for the room cleaning. Making The Bed. Dust the room and furniture. Replenishing or restocking
guestroom and bath room supplies. Clean the bathroom. Clean the closet. Vacuum and rakes the carpet.
Checks and secure the room. Report maintenance requirement, lost and found items, DND, guest loan item,
emergencies and guest complain. Remove soiled linen to laundry as per hotel procedure, Remove all trash and
discard them. Restock my trolley for next day.

12. What do you know about our hotel?

Yes sir, your hotel name is Sedona and we have 150 rooms in 5 types of rooms categories and under the
Marriot group of hospitality management and 5 stars hotel.
13. Is there any friends who working in our hotel?
No sir, I don’t have any friend who working in your hotel.
14. Why should we hire you for the housekeeping room attendant position?
Yes sir, you should hire me because I have got experience as good housekeeper
and I am hard working person and a good team player and I am very polite and
humble person.

15. What is your strength and weakness?


My strength is I am very friendly and always make customers feel welcome. I work
quickly and can handle busy times without getting stressed.

My weakness is Sometimes, I focus too much on making everything perfect, which


can slow me down a little. I'm working on finding a good balance.
16. Can you share any achievements or successes from your previous hotel?

Yes sir, I my previous hotel , I have got 50 positive customer reviews and 2 times of
employee of the month. It makes me really proud of myself.
17. How do you handle challenging situations or difficult cleaning tasks?

Yes sir, I pay attention on it and tried to effort with my experiences and
knowledges and if I am not able to do it I will request to my supervisor to show
me how to do it.

18. Why do you want to be a housekeeper?


Yes sir, I have a very details eyes and I love to keep the things and environment
nice and tidy and I want the people to stay in comfortable.

19. How do you ensure attention to detail and maintain high cleanliness standards in guest rooms?

Yes sir, I always follow the SOP of room cleaning and the fundamental of left to
right, top to bottom procedures and check, double check and counter check
procedures.

20. Can you provide examples of your customer service skills and how they would benefit our guests?
Yes sir, at a time I polished a pair of guest shoes and he called to the manager and
appreciated well to me and he told me how you know very well how to take care
with extra service. So like this the guests will return again for their satisfaction.
21. What is your expected salary ?

I want to be a housekeeper because I enjoy creating clean and organized spaces. It
makes me happy to help others feel comfortable and satisfied with their
environment.
27. How many days off do you prefer in a week?

Yes sir, one day a week is fine for me.

28. Can you work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of our hotel/company?

Yes I am flexible and I would like to do it.


29. How do you handle changes to your work schedule or unexpected requests from management?

Yes sir, Job is first priority for me and I do respect the management requests and I
am happy to do it.

30. Are you comfortable with the possibility of working overtime during busy periods or special events at the
hotel/company?

Yes sir, when the organization needs me, I am always willing to do it and it is a
great opportunity to show my performance.
31. What are the daily routines of a housekeeping room attendant?

As a room attendant, I start by changing into my uniform and taking the task sheets. I attend any
briefings and then set up my cleaning trolley in my assigned section. I clean rooms, take a break for
lunch, and then resume cleaning. Around 5 pm, I check for any remaining tasks or guest requests to
prepare for the next shift's handover.

32. What are the duties and responsibilities of a room attendant?

Turndown service involves refreshing the room in the evening, turning down the
bed, providing chocolates, and preparing for a comfortable night's rest.

34. Can you describe the "Do Not Disturb" (DND) procedure?

The "Do Not Disturb" procedure respects guest privacy unless essential services
are requested.

35. What is the cleaning order for a room, and how do you ensure thoroughness and efficiency?

The cleaning order for a room typically starts with decluttering, followed by
dusting, making beds, cleaning surfaces, and finishing with floor cleaning.
36. What do you do before entering a room to begin cleaning?

Yes sir, Before entering a room, I knock and announce "Housekeeping" to ensure
privacy and safety.

37. Can you explain the key control procedure and how it fits into your daily work routine?

Yes sir, Key control involves secure storage, limited access, and tracking of key
issuance and returns.
38. How do you control room keys and ensure their safety and security?

Yes sir, Room keys are controlled through secure storage and tracking systems to
prevent unauthorized access.
39. What are the room status, and how do you update them as part of your daily tasks?

Yes sir, the room status are Vacant Ready room(VR) Vacant Dirty Room (VD), Due Out
Room (DO), Day Use room (DU), Stay Over Room(SO), Check Out Room (CO),Occupied
Room (OC), On Change (OC), Do Not Disturb (DND), Out of order(OOO), Out of
service(OOS),Sleep Out Room(SO), Double Lock(DBL).

40. How many bed sheets will be used in bed making?

Yes sir, It is depend the method of bed making and the standard of the hotel. Normally we
use 1 bed sheet to 2 sheet to make the bed..

41. How many rooms do you make in a day?

Yes sir, I make 15 to 20 rooms a day . Sometime more than 20 rooms when we have
manpower shortage.
42. How much time will you take to clean a room?

Yes sir, for the standard room I take 20 to 25 mins and it is depends the size of room and
facilities of room sir.

43. What are the standard size of the room?

Yes sir, the standard size of the room is 200 square feet to 250 square feet.

44. How do you clean bath room / wash room?


I clean a bathroom by sanitizing surfaces, scrubbing fixtures, replenishing toiletries, and
ensuring it's spotless and hygienic.

45. How do you clean bed room?

I clean a bedroom by making the bed, dusting surfaces, vacuuming or mopping floors, and
ensuring amenities are stocked and arranged neatly.
46. Do you know how to setup the trolley? Can you explain me?

Yes, I know how to set up the trolley. I stock it with fresh linens, towels, toiletries, and
cleaning supplies. I also include extra items like toilet paper and trash bags. This helps me
clean rooms quickly and keep guests happy.

47. How many types of cleaning machines do you know?


Yes sir, I know how to use Vacuum, floor scrubbing machine, Upholstery Cleaning machine
sir.

48. How do you clean a check-out room?


When cleaning a checkout room, I follow a checklist. I strip the bedding, dust, wipe
surfaces, vacuum, and mop. I sanitize high-touch areas and restock supplies. Finally, I
inspect the room to make sure it is clean and ready for the next guest.

49. How do you clean OCC (Occupied) rooms?

I clean a bedroom by making the bed, dusting surfaces, vacuuming or mopping floors, and
ensuring amenities are stocked and arranged neatly.
