* The main objective of the Catch-Up Friday program was to give Grade 1 Pupils an engaging
and immersive learning environment that would ignite their passion for language acquisition.
Narrative Report:
On January 19, 2024, Juan Pagdanganan Memorial Elementary School resumed its DepEd
Catch-Up Friday Program for Grade 1 Learners. This session's main goal was to reinforce the
fundamental abilities needed for language development through exercises that involved sounding
out and recognizing alphabet letters using the Marungko method.
1. Opening Activities
In order to create a welcoming and interactive environment, the day started with an interesting
opening exercise. Joyful music welcomed the students and a quick recap of the lessons from the
previous session. To draw in the attention of the Grade 1 Learners , the teacher used vibrant
artifacts and visuals.
4. Reading Syllables
After successfully grasping the basics of letter recognition, the session transitioned to reading
exercises. The students were introduced to syllables and then after that reading simple words.
Essential language development skills were successfully reinforced on January 19, 2024, at the
Grade 1 Learners' Catch-Up Friday Program. Students improved their letter recognition skills
and started the process of reading syllables with the use of the Marungko approach and
interactive exercises. Assuring that every Grade 1 learner has the fundamental knowledge and
skills required for their academic path, the program strives to maintain offering a nurturing
learning environment.
