DESIGN DOCUMENT FOR BOUNDARY WALL

1. General

The intent of this specification to specify general guidelines for design, detail
engineering and execution of the civil & architectural work of Boundary Wall for
the project “construction of new WTPs. The content of this document is solely
based on the technical specification supplied with the NIT & subsequent
Agreement and accepted technical part of our final offer.

2. Brief description of Engineering work for the above shall be as follows:

i. Preparation of design calculations using software’s (STAAD, Excel etc.) and

getting the same approved by client/consultant.

ii. Preparation of General Arrangement Drawings (GAD) in AutoCAD and

getting the same approved by client/consultant.

iii. Preparation of detail construction drawings in AutoCAD based on approved

General Arrangement Drawings.

iv. Preparation of as-built drawings after completion of the job and to submit
the hard copies of the same to client/consultant.

3. Design Methodology

Structures shall be planned that they are economical and safe and meet the
functional as well as service requirements of the technological process for which
they are primarily established. The structures shall be engineered maintaining the
relevant statutory regulations and as per relevant Indian Codes of practice or in
absence, any International Code approved by the client / consultant. However,
aesthetics shall also be given due importance while planning the units individually
and as a whole for the project. Natural ventilation of all facilities shall be provided
ensuring that it does not permit rainwater entry into the building. Scope of natural
lighting shall be used to the maximum possible extent as per NIT.

All work shall be carried out as per drawings prepared by us and approved by the
client/consultant. For all design works, minimum requirements as per this
specification shall be followed.

In general, loading & design of structures. permissible stresses and other design
criteria shall be in accordance with the latest edition of the following I.S. Codes
and practices:

Referred Code:

In the design wall provision of various clauses of following is codes has been
followed

i. IS: 456(2000) - Code of practice for Plain &Reinforcement Concrete code

of practice
ii. IS: 875 Part (1) - 1987 Code of practice for Design Load for building &
structures (D.L.)
iii. IS: 875 Part (2) - 1987 Code of practice for Design Load (Imposed Load)
for building
iv. IS: 1893-2016- Code of practice for Criteria for Earthquake resistant design
of Structures
v. IS: 1786-1985 - Specifications of high yield deformed bars for Bending &
fixing of Reinforcement.
vi. IS: 2502-1968 - Code of practice for Bending & fixing of Reinforcement.
vii. IS: 1905-1987 - Code of practice for structural use of unreinforced concrete.
viii. IS: 1904-1986 - Code of practice for design & Construction of foundation in
Soil (General requirement)
ix. SP-34(S&T) - 1987- Concrete Reinforcement and Detailing.
x. SP - 16:1980 - Design Aids for Reinforced Concrete.
Rigidity of the boundary wall structures in all directions and stability of the
structure for worst practical combination of loading shall be ensured.

4. Design Loads

i. Wall panels between expansion joints, is analyzed and designed using

staad.pro. Connect edition.
ii. Dead load: self-weight of frame
Dead load: Wall load of 9.45 kN/m is considered to act on plinth beams.
(Wall thick*wall height*density 0.27*1.75*20=9.45 kN/m).
Dead load: Fencing load of 0.5 kN/m (50kg/m) is considered to act on tie
beams.
iii. Live load: 1.0 kN/m (100kg/m) is considered to act on tie beams for any
futuristic maintenance/services/platform.
iv. Static analysis as per is 1893:2016 has been carried out considering the
wall location in seismic zone II.
Earthquake loads are considered in both directions i.e., along length (X) and
perpendicular to wall (Z).
