METAL DECKING THEORETICAL DEFLECTION INVESTIGATIONS NO.

The scope of this report is to show the calculation used to investigate the theoretical deflection of metal
decking. Figure 1 presents the metal decking at the PCI girder.

1.1 DESIGN CRITERIA

Clear span for metal decking, L 1300 mm


Slab thickness, T 250 mm
Metal decking properties:
Thickness, t 1.60 mm
Yield strength, Fy 275 MPa
Allowable strength, fy 206.25 MPa
Elastic modulus, E 200000 MPa
Moment of inertia, I 537820 mm^4 per meter width
Section modulus, Sp 21617 mm^3 per meter width
Section modulus, Sn 21410 mm^3 per meter width
Weight of the panel, Wp 9.47 kg/m²
