TOPIC: POLLUTION
IMPACTS IN
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

PREPARED BY: GILBERT ROSHAN PAUL I

INTRODUTION

• Environmental sustainability is the practice of preserving natural

resources and ecosystems for future generations.
• Pollution is the presence or introduction of harmful substances into the
environment, leading to negative impacts on human health and
ecosystems.
• Water pollution, solid waste and recycling, toxic substances and
hazardous wastes, and global warming are major forms of pollution
that have significant impacts on the environment.
• Adopting sustainable practices can help reduce pollution impacts and
promote environmental sustainability.
• This presentation will focus on environmental sustainability practices
related to water pollution, solid waste and recycling, toxic substances
and hazardous wastes, and global warming.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN
WATER POLLUTION
• Water pollution is the introduction of harmful substances into natural
bodies of water
• Sources of water pollution include industrial waste, agricultural
runoff, and sewage discharge
• Effects of water pollution include decreased water quality, loss of
aquatic life, and human health risks
• Sustainable practices to reduce water pollution include proper disposal
of hazardous waste, reducing use of pesticides and fertilizers, and
promoting the use of eco-friendly products
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN SOLID
WASTE AND RECYCLING
• Solid waste is non-liquid waste produced by human activities
• Landfills are the most common way of disposing of solid waste, but
they have negative impacts on the environment
• Recycling is the process of turning waste into new products
• Benefits of recycling include reduced waste in landfills, conservation
of natural resources, and reduced energy use
• Sustainable practices to reduce solid waste and promote recycling
include composting, using reusable bags and containers, and
supporting local recycling programs
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN TOXIC
SUBSTANCES AND HAZARDOUS WASTES
• Toxic substances are chemicals that can cause harm to living
organisms
• Hazardous waste is waste that is dangerous or potentially harmful to
human health or the environment
• Sources of toxic substances and hazardous waste include industrial
processes, household cleaners, and pesticides
• Effects of exposure to toxic substances and hazardous waste include
cancer, birth defects, and environmental contamination
• Sustainable practices to reduce toxic substances and hazardous waste
include using non-toxic alternatives, proper disposal of hazardous
waste, and supporting policies that promote environmental safety
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN
GLOBAL WARMING
• Global warming is the long-term increase in the average temperature
of the Earth's atmosphere
• Causes of global warming include human activities such as burning
fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes
• Effects of global warming include rising sea levels, extreme weather
events, and negative impacts on human health and ecosystems
• Sustainable practices to reduce global warming include using
renewable energy sources, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting
policies that promote environmental sustainability.
CONCLUSION
• Pollution has significant negative impacts on the environment, human
health, and ecosystems.
• Sustainable practices can help reduce pollution impacts and promote
environmental sustainability.
• Water pollution can be reduced through proper waste disposal and
reducing the use of harmful chemicals.
• Solid waste and recycling can be improved by reducing waste
generation and promoting the use of recyclable materials.
• Toxic substances and hazardous wastes can be reduced by using non-
toxic alternatives and proper disposal.
• Global warming can be addressed through the reduction of carbon
emissions and the promotion of renewable energy sources.
