FERNANDEZ, IBAÑEZ, PROVIDO, RHODES TEAM WOAH | ANIMRES BAAN4

Brief Introduction
This is for us to understand if FPS games (Valorant) can
really change one’s behavior and social habits. Do they get
mad because of the game? or do they get mad because of
the people they play it with/against? that’s what we’re
going to be discussing.

Why we chose this topic
A crucial time for social and emotional development is early adulthood.
This is a period of life when we are still quite receptive to external
influences, so learning more about the effects of video games at this age
might assist detect potential positive or bad influences. Excessive gaming
may also result in addiction, social disengagement, or loneliness, according
to certain research. Early risk identification enables the prevention of
unfavorable outcomes through measures.

Are toxic players really a
common problem?
During any competitive game, whether it is played online or in
person; most players are bound to experience some level of toxicity
which could lead to poor user experiences.

Valorant’s broad demographic of gamers, coiled with the anonymity

of players and competitive nature, causes the gaming platform to be
a breeding ground for toxic behaviour.

Are toxic players really a
common problem?
Many Valorant players tend to bully or get violent whenever they
find out there is a female player in their lobby, they would often
cuss them out, tell them to go back to the kitchen and delete
valorant

They don’t care if they’re doing good or bad, if you’re a female

player they somehow automatically hate you because they think
female players are naturally bad at FPS games

We found out !
Most players are only in it for the fun and to bond
with their friends,
Each game there will always be a toxic player
be it random teammate or an opponent.
It does have impact on gamers who play it regularly in
terms of social skills

We found out !
It’s always the overly competitive ones who tend to be
very toxic
3 out of 10 interviewies say they might get toxic if the
team are not doing good for the sole reason that they
want to win
All of them want the toxic players gone for a friendlier
environment

We found out !
Gamers who invest a lot of time in the game tend to
have an accent and a way of speaking which is so called
the ‘Valorant Accent’ or lingo
The toxic players can sometimes get to them which costs
them to react in a rather toxic manner as well

We found out !
For them a toxic player is someone who will drag you
down for something they too are doing, someone who’s
too competitive
The only way they know how to get rid of the toxic
players is to report them through the game’s system,
although they also said it rarely works

Conclusion
There will always be a toxic player, be it valorant or other
shooting games, as long as it’s a competitive game we’re
bound to encounter these toxic players, Best we can do is to
ignore them and report them in game as an attempt to
prevent this behavior from spreading.

What are we planning?
For our chosen theories, we plan on creating an animation
which will showcase these toxic players’ behavior and how it
affect’s casual players. We’re going to spread it throughout
social media because most of the players are always online.
