Exploring the Story

• Join Kip in getting fit. Start by having children sit down.
Tell them to stand up when they hear a word with short i.
Then have them sit down before you share the next word
and remain sitting with words that do not have short i.
Use the following words: bang, bat, dab, dip, dig, fib, fill,
jab, jig, kick, kiss, lick, pack, pick, rap, rip, sing, sat, sit, sip,
tip, wag, yap, zip, zap.
• Get more fit by doing other actions that have the short i:
dig, (dance a) jig, (wiggle your) hips, tip (to the side), (flap
your) wings, (flap your) wings and sing, pick (up things), hit
or kick (at an imaginary ball), dip (your head).
