QUESTION ONE:

1.1. A triangle with vertices, A (−1; 7) , B (8; 4) , C (5; −5) is given.


1.1.1. Show that 𝐴𝐵 𝐶 = 90° (4)
1.1.2. Prove that ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 is isosceles. (3)
1.2. D (2; 8), E(8; −1) and F(4; 𝑎) are given. (3)
Determine the value of 𝑎 if DEF is a straight line.

QUESTION TWO:
In the diagram below, the line joining Q (−2; −3) and P (𝑎; 𝑏) . QP = 7√2 units. N (7; 1) and M are
midpoints of PR and QR respectively. The gradient of MN is 1.

Determine:
2.1. With reasons, the length of MN. Leave your answer in surd form. (2)
2.2. The equation of PQ. (4)
2.3. Co-ordinates of T. (2)
2.4. Co-ordinates of S, if PQRS is a parallelogram. (3)
2.5. The perimeter of PQRS if PS = 8√2 units. Round off your answer to the nearest (3)
integer.

QUESTION THREE:
3.1. Given quadrilateral PQRS, with PQ//RS and PS//QR.
3.1.1. Draw a diagram to depict the above statement. (1)
3.1.2. Hence, or otherwise prove the theorem which states that if the quadrilateral is a

parallelogram, then the opposite sides are equal, i.e. 𝑃𝑄 = 𝑅𝑆 and 𝑃𝑆 = 𝑄𝑅.
3.2. ABCD is a parallelogram with E, a point on AB such that AD=AE and EC=BC.
Also 𝐴𝐷𝐸 = 𝑥.
