Safety barriers/signs

Barricades these are safety equipment are used to keep people away from potential danger: such as

 Excavation hazards  Trenches


 Electrical hazards (high voltage)  Noise
 Restricted areas  Slip hazards
 Lifting operations  Open holes
 Failing rocks and lose rocks  Curving area
 Trip hazards

Barricades and other warning devices will reduce the chances of such accidents. One or more of the
following types of protection should be used based on the hazard present:

THINGS TO DO WHEN BARRICADING A WORK PLACE


 Ensure that barricades are properly striped for visibility
 Equip barricades with reflective material for night visibility
 Ensure information regarding the potential hazard to communicated to all employees working in
the area about the barricade and the reason.
 All barricades should be mounted on a safe distance from the hazard point

THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT DO IN A WORKPLACE


 Do not remove barricades unless necessary in rehearsal with Safety Office or the author of the
barricade
 Do not ignore warning signs or barricades
 Do not short cut through barriers or restricted areas
 When we are carrying out High Risk Activities, we must erect safety signs and barriers
