### Chapter 1: Introduction

#### 1.1 Problem Statement

The current market for water bottles is saturated with numerous options, yet users frequently report
issues related to durability, cleaning difficulties, inadequate temperature retention, and portability. Our
goal is to design a water bottle that addresses these pain points, ensuring a superior user experience
through innovative design and material choices.

#### 1.2 Motivation of Project

The motivation for this project stems from the increasing demand for high-quality, user-friendly water
bottles. By leveraging user feedback and the latest advancements in materials science, we aim to create
a product that stands out in terms of functionality, aesthetics, and overall user satisfaction.

#### 1.3 Objectives

The objectives are to:

1. Design a water bottle that is highly durable.

2. Ensure the water bottle is easy to clean.

3. Incorporate features that maintain the temperature of the contents.

4. Design a bottle that is convenient to carry and use.

#### 1.4 Scope

The project scope includes the design and development of a water bottle prototype, focusing on
durability, cleanliness, temperature retention, and portability. While the project will encompass
extensive CAD modeling and simulation, it will not include physical manufacturing or large-scale
production.

#### 1.5 Constraints

This project is constrained by budget limitations, time constraints, and the availability of resources. As a
result, the emphasis will be on CAD modeling and CAE simulations, with no immediate plans for physical
prototyping or large-scale production.

#### 1.6 Target or Lead Users

Our target users include environmentally conscious individuals, athletes, travelers, and professionals
who seek a reliable and user-friendly water bottle. These users demand a product that combines
practicality with advanced features.

#### 1.7 Milestones and Timeline

1. Preliminary design and specification completion: Weeks 1-2

2. CAD modeling: Weeks 3-4

3. Analytical prototyping: Weeks 5-6

4. Reporting: Weeks 7-8

#### 1.8 Assumptions

The project assumes that all necessary CAD software and tools will be available for design and
simulation. It also assumes that user feedback and market research will provide clear insights into the
desired features and improvements.

#### 1.9 User Feedback

To ensure the design meets user needs, feedback was gathered from three different user groups:
athletes, travelers, and office workers. Each group provided insights into their specific requirements and
preferences for a water bottle.

**User Feedback Questionnaire:**

**Athlete Feedback:**

1. When and why do you use water bottles?

2. What do you like about your current water bottle?

3. What do you dislike about your current water bottle?

4. What features are most important to you in a water bottle?

5. How often do you replace your water bottle?

**Traveler Feedback:**

1. When and why do you use water bottles during travel?

2. What do you like about your current travel water bottle?

3. What do you dislike about your current travel water bottle?

4. What features are most important to you in a travel water bottle?

5. What improvements would you suggest for travel water bottles?
