The ZOLL 330 Multifunction Aspirator passes the Cosmetic/Hardware Check. Pass Fail
Performance Test, and Bleed Valve Functional Tests.
The Checklist was reviewed to ensure the tests and their results are compliant to the defined standards.
Device Classification
The following table describes the ZOLL Aspirator’s device classification:
Category Classification
Type of Protection against Electric Shock The medical power supply (which contains the
system’s safety barrier) is labeled as Class I or
Class II. Electrical shock protection is not
dependent upon earthing since this power
supply design includes double insulation.
Degree of Protection against Electric Shock Aspirator contact is Type B applied part. BF:
Applied Parts Type B with floating (F-type) parts.
Degree of Protection against Harmful Protection with soft case and rain flap: IP33
Ingress of Water and solids
Liquid: Spraying water
Solid: 2.5mm diameter and greater
Method of Sterilization or Disinfection Inlet port should be wiped with a damp, soapy
cloth and thoroughly dried with a lint- free
cloth. The unit’s housing should also be
cleaned as necessary with a damp, soapy
cloth and thoroughly dried with a lint-free
cloth. Do not clean with abrasives or
chlorinated hydrocarbon cleansers.
Degree of Safety of Application in the Equipment not suitable for use in presence of
presence of a Flammable Anesthetic Flammable Anesthetic Mixture of Air or with
Mixture with Air or with Oxygen or Nitrous Oxygen or Nitrous Oxide.
Oxide
The ZOLL aspirators are intended for use in the electromagnetic environment specified below. The
customer or user of the aspirator should ensure that they are used in such an environment.
RF emissions Group 1 The ZOLL aspirators use RF energy only for their internal
CISPR 11 function. Therefore, their RF emissions are very low and
are not likely to cause any interference in nearby
electronic equipment.

Electrical
The Model 330 Aspirator uses an external medical power supply (Jasper AC/DC power supply
REF: 9141-000-127) which meets safety standards UL60601-1 / EN60601-1 for both Class I
and II. This means the power supply employs both double insulation and a protective earth
ground as means of patient and operator protection, as explained below.
Class I
This equipment incorporates basic insulation for protection under normal conditions and is
earthed for protection under single-fault conditions. This method relies on protection from
electric shock by providing the basic insulation and earthing. (This is the method most used
with stationary equipment where exposed metal parts and/or the chassis/enclosure is metal.)
Class II
This equipment incorporates basic insulation for protection under normal conditions but a
second barrier of insulation (additional layer(s) of insulation) is added for protection under the
single fault conditions. In other words, this method relies on the two layers of insulation for the
protection from electric shock. This method is more common in portable devices where
connection to earthing is not possible in all use environments.
