What is WordPad?
• WordPad is a special computer program that helps you to write and format the
words on the computer.
• It's like a digital notebook where you can type stories, make lists, or write

• In WordPad, you can add pictures too.


• It's a simple tool that can help express your ideas and create your own written
works on the computer.

Click Click the search bar/icon on the taskbar. If it's missing, then click on the Start button.

Type Type Wordpad

Hit Hit the ↵ Enter key or select the matching result.


Getting Started
Creating a new document:

To create a new document, simply click on the 'File' menu and select 'New'. You can also
use the keyboard shortcut 'Ctrl+N'.

Once you have created a new document, you can start typing right away.

Select the text: Change the font style: Adjust the font size:

Select the text you want to modify the color or apply to highlight
• Change the text color:
Click on the button "A" and open the color palette, select the desired
color for your text by clicking on it.
• Apply text highlighting:
If you want to apply highlighting to the selected text, click on the
highlighting button on the toolbar. It looks like a marker or a pen tip.
Alignment • Align text:
WordPad provides alignment options to position your text. On the toolbar, you will find
options buttons for left alignment, center alignment, right alignment, and justified alignment.
Select the desired text and click on the appropriate alignment button to adjust the
alignment of your text.
Bulleted and
numbered lists
• Create bulleted or numbered lists:
Select the text you want to turn into a list, and
click on the bullet button or the numbering
button on the toolbar. The selected text will now
appear as a bulleted or numbered list.
Typing using Special Keys and Punctuations
Some keys on the keyboard have specific functions:
• Tab - move between items or move forward 5 characters
• Shift - when the Shift key is pressed at the same time as a letter key, an upper-case version of
that letter is produced.
• Ctrl - holding down the Ctrl key while selecting items allows you to select several items at once.
• Caps Lock - when you press the Caps Lock key, you activate a feature that lets you type upper
case letters
• Print Screen - pressing the Print Screen key captures an image of your entire screen.
• Punctuation Keys: These are keys of the keyboard used for punctuation, examples include comma,
full stop, colon, question marks, hyphen, etc.

Type the Poem and apply the text formatting:
1. Change the font type as 'Cambria', size '14' and colour 'Orange'.
2. Give the title to the Poem and make it bold and underlined.
3. Choose your favourite words and highlight them with any colour.
4. Align the Poem in the 'center'.
5. Write the moral of the poem in italic style.
