I.OBJECTIVES 1. Identify the different types of solid figures;

2. Identify the parts of a solid figure

3. differentiate solid figures.

4. Create a model of a solid figure.

A. CONTENT STANDARD Demonstrates understanding of polygons, circles, and solid figures.

B. PERFORMANCE The pupils are able to construct and describe polygons, circles, and solid
STANDARD figures.

Resources
III. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing the The teacher shows pictures of different polygons and the learners will name
previous lesson them.

B. Establishing a
purpose for the
lesson
The class will sing the song “Dance with Shapes” to set the mood.
Music
The teacher delivers the objectives of the lesson for the day.

C. Presenting The teacher shows pictures of different objects.

Examples/ Instances
of New lesson

Learners will be asked what are the objects, and what shape they have.

The teacher introduces the idea of SOLID FIGURES.

D. Discussing new The learners will be learning some basic terms take notes and draw & label
concepts
pictures if they need to.
Parts of Solid Figures
Faces -The sides of a solid figure
Edges - are formed when two faces meet.
Vertices - are formed where three or more edges meet.
Prism - is a polyhedron that has 2 congruent bases.
Cubes - All of its faces are squares.
Pyramids - is a polyhedron with only one base. All other faces are triangles
that meet at the same vertex.
Curved Solids - only one surface or face. It has no edges nor vertices.
E. Finding Practical The teacher facilitates an ACTIVITY with the class in finding out how to
applications of create models of solid figures.
concepts and skills
Materials Needed:

1. Materials:
2. Cardboard/Folder
3. Scissors
4. Glue
Procedure in making solid figure models.
1. The teacher will give cutouts of different solid figures.
2. Glue the said cutouts to cardboard or a folder.
3. Cut the lines of the glued cutouts.
4. Fold the black lines to create a solid figure.
5. Glue the red lines to complete the model.

The teacher will ask the learners:

1. How many faces does your model have?
2. How many vertices does your model have?
3. How many edges does your model have?
4. What solid figure do you have?

F. Generalization A solid figure is any three-dimensional object or shape. An object or shape

that has measurements for length, width, and height is three-dimensional
and therefore is a solid figure. A solid figure definition is any three-
dimensional shape or object with length, width, and height.

G. Developing Mastery The teacher will show more pictures of different objects. The learners will
(Leads to formative identify the name of the solid figure it has.

Face Polyhedron Pyramid

Cone

1. A solid figure with one circular base and one vertex.

2. A solid figure with two congruent circular faces.
3. It has only one surface or face. It has no edges or vertices.
4. The sides of a solid figure.
5. Formed when two faces meet.
6. Formed where three or more edges meet.
7. A solid figure with flat faces.
8. A prism that has a triangular base
9. A polyhedron with only one base.
10. All of its faces are squares.

V. Evaluating Learning Activity 1

The learners will be grouped into 4, they will connect the dots to form a solid
figure. Give the number of Edges, Vertices, and Faces then label it with the
correct name of the formed solid figure.
Activity 2
Read the following situation. Choose the letter of the correct answer.

1. It is a special solid figure with no edges or vertices
