A General Installation

Installation Standard: ASTM C 754, except comply with framing sizes

and spacing indicated. NEOM specs
A1
1. Gypsum Board Assemblies: Also comply with requirements in ASTM 092216 sec 3.3.A
C 840 that apply to framing installation.

Install supplementary framing, and blocking to support fixtures,

NEOM specs
A2 equipment services, heavy trim, grab bars, toilet accessories,
092216 sec 3.3.B
furnishings, or similar construction.

NEOM specs
A3 Install bracing at terminations in assemblies.
092216 sec 3.3.C

Do not bridge building control and expansion joints with non-load-

NEOM specs
A4 bearing steel framing members. Frame both sides of joints
092216 sec 3.3.D
independently.

B Installing Framed Assemblies

Where studs are installed directly against exterior masonry walls or

NEOM specs
B1 dissimilar metals at exterior walls, install isolation strip between studs
092216 sec 3.4.A
and exterior wall.

Install studs so flanges within framing system point in same direction.

1. Space studs as follows: NEOM specs
B2
a. Single-Layer Application: as indicated. 092216 sec 3.4.B
b. Multilayer Application: as indicated.

Install tracks (runners) at floors and overhead supports. Extend framing

full height to structural supports or substrates above suspended
ceilings, except where partitions are indicated to terminate at
suspended ceilings. Continue framing around ducts penetrating
partitions above ceiling.
1. Slip-Type Head Joints: Where framing extends to overhead structural
supports, install to produce joints at tops of framing systems that
prevent axial loading of finished assemblies.
NEOM specs
B3 2. Door Openings: Screw vertical studs at jambs to jamb anchor clips
092216 sec 3.4.C
on door frames; install runner track section (for cripple studs) at head
and secure to jamb studs.
a. Install two studs at each jamb unless otherwise indicated.
b. Install cripple studs at head adjacent to each jamb stud, with a
minimum 13-mm clearance from jamb stud to allow for installation of
control joint in finished assembly.
c. Extend jamb studs through suspended ceilings and attach to
underside of overhead structure.
3. Other Framed Openings: Frame openings other than door openings
the same as required for door openings unless otherwise indicated.
Install framing below sills of openings to match framing required above
door heads.
4. Fire-Resistance-Rated Partitions: Install framing to comply with fire-
resistance-rated assembly indicated and support closures and to make
partitions continuous from floor to underside of solid structure.
a. Firestop Track: Where indicated, install to maintain continuity of fire-
resistance-rated assembly indicated. NEOM specs
B4
5. Sound-Rated Partitions: Install framing to comply with sound-rated 092216 sec 3.4.C
assembly indicated.
6. Curved Partitions:
a. Bend track to uniform curve and locate straight lengths so they are
tangent to arcs.
b. Begin and end each arc with a stud, and space intermediate studs
equally along arcs. On straight lengths of no fewer than two studs at
ends of arcs, place studs 150 mm
o.c.

Direct Furring:
1. Screw to wood framing. NEOM specs
B5
2. Attach to concrete or masonry with stub nails, screws designed for 092216 sec 3.4.D
masonry attachment, or powder-driven fasteners spaced 610 mm o.c.

Z-Furring Members:
1. Erect insulation (specified in Section 072100 "Thermal Insulation")
vertically and hold in place with Z-furring members spaced 610 mm o.c.
2. Except at exterior corners, securely attach narrow flanges of furring
members to wall with concrete stub nails, screws designed for masonry
NEOM specs
B6 attachment, or powder-driven fasteners spaced 610 mm o.c.
092216 sec 3.4.E
3. At exterior corners, attach wide flange of furring members to wall with
short flange extending beyond corner; on adjacent wall surface, screw-
attach short flange of furring channel to web of attached channel. At
interior corners, space second member no more than 305 mm from
corner and cut insulation to fit.

Installation Tolerance: Install each framing member so fastening

NEOM specs
B7 surfaces vary not more than 3 mm from the plane formed by faces of
092216 sec 3.4.F
adjacent framing.

C Installing Suspension System

Install suspension system components in sizes and spacing’s indicated

on Drawings, but not less than those required by referenced installation NEOM specs
C1
standards for assembly types and other assembly components 092216, sec 3.5.A
indicated.

Isolate suspension systems from building structure where they abut or

NEOM specs
C2 are penetrated by building structure to prevent transfer of loading
092216, sec 3.5.B
imposed by structural movement.

Fire-Resistance-Rated Assemblies: Wire tie furring channels to NEOM specs

C3
supports. 092216, sec 3.5.C

Seismic Bracing: Sway-brace suspension systems with hangers used NEOM specs
C4
for support . 092216, sec 3.5.D

Grid Suspension Systems: Attach perimeter wall track or angle where

grid suspension systems meet vertical surfaces. Mechanically join main NEOM specs
C5
beam and cross-furring members to each other and buttcut to fit into 092216, sec 3.5.E
wall track.

Installation Tolerances: Install suspension systems that are level to

within 3 mm in 3.6 m measured lengthwise on each member that will NEOM specs
C6
receive finishes and transversely between parallel members that will 092216, sec 3.5.F
receive finishes.
