B. Review (Time Allotment: 5 minutes)

Guess the jumbled word/words: A friend of Aaron invites him to a place in Santa
Cruz, Laguna. Aaron became excited, but his friend told him that he would have to
guess some hidden words before he could join. Guess the correct word/words by
arranging the letters, using the provided meanings as clues.
Procedure that can be infinitely repeated and has a well-defined set of results.

C. Motivation (Time Allotment: 5 minutes)

SANTA CRUZ FIESTA

Aaron and his friends are now in town plaza of Santa Cruz, Laguna. The
teacher will present some pictures of some games seen at the town plaza where Aaron
and his friends are. The students are going to determine which events in Santa Cruz
include those games and what are the objects used in each game presented.

1. Discuss short trivia about Santa Cruz, Laguna’ Fiesta.

2. Ask the following questions:
a. Are you familiar with the following games?
b. What event can you find these games?
c. What are the objects used in the games presented?

D. Priming (Time Allotment: 5 minutes)

*Ask the student the steps in solving problems they know.

Directions: Arrange in correct order the 3 “R’s” and “ESP” steps in solving problems
involving sides and angles of a polygon.

In the cut-out cartolina and PPT presentation, there are steps in solving problems. The
students will arrange it according to its correct sequence. After choosing and posting
the answer that was written in the cartolina on the board, the same student will find
the answer on the PPT presentation. (ICT Integration)
Prove/check the answers. (6)

Read the problem thoroughly. (1)

Solve the equation. (5)

Represent the unknown with a variable. (2)

Equate. Form an equation using the facts in the problem. (4)

Relate the unknown and the values given in the problem. (3)

These steps are very useful in problem solving; this will be our guide in solving problems
involving sides and angles of a polygon.

3. ABSTRACTION (Time Allotment: 10 minutes)

Remember:
 The angles formed by the sides of a polygon are called interior angles of a polygon. The
angles formed where its sides are extended are called exterior angles of a polygon.
 The sum of the interior angles of a convex polygon with n sides is given by S= (n-2)
180⁰.
 The sum of the exterior angles of a convex polygon (one at each vertex) is 360⁰.
 The measure of each interior angle of a regular polygon represented an r is r=
( n−2 ) 180 °
.
n
 Regular polygon is an equiangular (equal angles) and equilateral (equal sides) polygon.
 The perimeter of the polygon is represented as P, and the formula to get the perimeter of a
regular polygon is P = number of sides (n) x length of a side.
 The interior angle and its adjacent exterior angle form a linear pair. It means that the sum of
their measures is 180⁰.
