The next morning he put his plan into action by asking the woman at the Penny Pantry
store for a frindle. When she was unsure as to what it was, he pointed to the pens and
asked for a black frindle. Different students continued to ask for frindle's until it became
clear that a frindle was a pen.

3. Instead of "cheese" what did the 5th grade kids say and do when their class picture
was being taken? Why did the picture have to stay that way?

Instead of saying cheese, all the fifth grade students said frindle and held up their
pens. The picture had to remain like that because the photographer was out of film
and could not do a retake.
