Filipinos love to eat rice and corn. Both grow in almost all parts of the country
and can be bought everywhere. Rice and corn are considered cereals and staple food
of the people in many countries. While corn can be eaten alone, rice needs a viand to
go along with it.
According to the Organic Facts, corn is rich in many nutrients including
magnesium, phosphorous, manganese, zinc, copper, iron, selenium, and small amounts
of potassium. It also contains vitamin B and traces of vitamins A and E. Corn is good for
the skin and the nervous system.
Rice is rich in protein, phosphorus, and iron. It is the outer brown layer of rice that
most minerals and nutrients are found in large quantities. That is why brown rice is
better. A small amount of vitamin B is also found in rice. It is good for those suffering
from diarrhea, dysentery, high blood pressure, and skin disorders.
