INTRODUCTION AND DESIGN CRITERIA

Page 1
1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

1.1 The Red Sea Project is one of three giga-projects announced by HRH
Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud in 2017. The
Project supports the government’s strategy to diversify the Kingdom’s
tourism offering as laid in Vision 2030, the bold blueprint for the future of
Saudi Arabia.

2 STRUCTURAL DESIGN TECHNIQUE AND PHILOSOPHY:

2.1. Design was conducted according to SBC Saudi building code (301,
303, and 304).

2.2. The structural elements will be designed and

checked for serviceability and ultimate limit state,
moments, normal forces, sheer, punching and
bearing resistant under service and ultimate dead,
live, Earthquake and wind loads and for enveloping
maximum and minimum load combinations
according to SBC-301-2018.

2.3. 3-Dimensional ETABS-16&19 model will be generated for modeling the

reactions submitted from the steel building designer and applied to the
design of the pedestals taking into consideration directions of loading and
eccentricity.

2.4. 2-Dimensional SAFE-16&20 model will be generated for modeling and

designing of foundations.

3.5.0. Loading:
 Provisions of this design are based on the
assumption that the structures shall be designed to
resist all applicable loads.

to be negligible compared to the roof live loads are
displayed below.
