II. RATIONALE

Living in this post-pandemic environment where the inflation rate keeps getting higher and higher, the
stability of finances for day-to-day living is a challenge for every Filipino family. In Barangay Progreso,
Aglipay, Quirino, there is a population of mothers who are struggling to find employment opportunities
that fits their roles and schedules as home-makers. Many of these mothers are members of the Rural
Improvement Club (RIC) of Barangay Progreso and have the skills and willpower to succeed, but lack the
capitals and training needed to secure sustainable livelihoods. As a community, it is our accountability to
support and empower these individuals to reach their full potential. To address the challenges faced by
RIC Members in Brgy. Progreso, Aglipay, Quirino, we made a program intended exclusively for the RIC
members who are having monetary hardships. This training is specifically designed for the for the said
target participants, including women who are unemployed, underemployed, or seeking alternative
income sources. Participants must demonstrate a willingness to learn and a commitment to apply their
new skills towards economic empowerment.

Since door mats are noticeably useful and convenient in preventing people from carrying dirt from the
outdoors to the indoors, we propose to conduct a Door Mat Making Training Program with the intent
to provide the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to manufacture high-quality door
mats, which can be sold in the local market of Aglipay for profit. The main goal of this training program
is to empower the participants for them to develop a sustainable and feasible business that would
