ALCOHOL and DRINKING

We, the undersigned, are concerned about the impact of drinking alcohol on our community. Alcohol
and Drinking abuse can lead to health problems, accidents, and other social issues. We believe more
needs to be done to regulate drinking alcohol and raise awareness about its risks.

We call on the Government, the City Council, the School Board to implement stronger regulations on
alcohol sales and advertising, and to regulate education programs about the dangers of alcohol and
drinking abuse.

•According to the World Health Organization (WHO), alcohol consumption is responsible for over 3
million deaths worldwide each year, accounting for 5.3% of all deaths.

•The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) reports that about 60% of teenagers
have had at least one drink by age 18, and approximately 7.7 million young people ages 12–20 reported
drinking alcohol in the past month.
